I don’t wish to be mean about a people from whence some of my best friends have come, but if this presentation from Rudolph Giuliani is a revelation to anyone, Americans are beyond naive, living in a complete fantasyland. I don’t think badly about someone because of the colour of their skin, but the colour of their skin is also not a reason to like or trust them. Obama was bad news from the start, and the only surprise to me has been how far and for how long he has been able to string people along. In fact, he continues to this minute. These mild criticisms from Rudolph Giuliani have nevertheless led to a series of death threats and hysteria in the media and across the left. Giuliani has therefore now responded.
Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani adamantly defended Thursday his controversial criticism of President Obama, one day after saying he does “not believe that the president loves America.”
Giuliani made the remarks Wednesday at a private fundraiser for Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who is widely considered to be a prospective candidate for president in 2016. He added: “(Obama) doesn’t love you. And he doesn’t love me. He wasn’t brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country.”
The comments drew widespread criticism from Democrats and liberals.
But Thursday night on “The Kelly File,” when host Megyn Kelly asked Giuliani if he wished to apologize, the 2008 presidential candidate doubled down on his criticism.
“Not at all. I want to repeat it,” Giuliani said. “The reality is, from all that I can see of this president, all that I’ve heard of him, he apologizes for America, he criticizes America. … This is an American president I’ve never seen before.”
Giuliani said he doesn’t think Obama believes in American exceptionalism, citing the president’s remarks on police tactics in the wake of the Ferguson shooting, western atrocities in the name of religion and Obama’s longtime association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, a controversial Chicago pastor.
But, Kelly countered, “a lot of liberals don’t believe in American exceptionalism, but that doesn’t mean they don’t love America.”
“I don’t feel it,” Giuliani said. “I don’t feel this love of America (from Obama). I believe his initial approach is to criticize this country, and then afterwards to say a few nice things about it.”
Giuliani, however, said he wasn’t questioning the president’s patriotism.
What does a guy have to do to show that he hates America and supports radical Islam? He’s not going to tell you so you just have to work it out from what he does. It really is insane.

I confess to having gone to the movie, all in the interests of a sociological analysis of my fellow man and woman. It’s a book that has sold 100,000,000 copies since it was published in 2011, in comparison with the paltry 30,000,000 for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in all its years of publication.
There are some things I am happy to comment on, and other things I would never say a word about. This is of that second type. However, I came across this at Drudge, Fifty Shades of Grey: Rowdy women glass man at Valentine’s Day screening of sexy film which apparently occurred in Glasgow and was published in the Daily Mirror in the UK. And to my amazement, in the middle of this online British newspaper story, there was a video of the above review by our own Lisa Wilkinson at Channel 9, with the heading, “Is this the best review of Fifty Shades of Grey ever?”. Whether this is merely for us in Oz, or they saw this in the UK as well, I cannot tell. Tempted though I am to say what I thought, there would be no possible good that could come of it, although I will say that the sociologist in you might consider seeing what attracts 100 million readers in this day and age.

“My grandfather turned to his brother and told him, ‘Run, Yehuda, run!’” he continued. “He tried to chase after the thugs to save his brother. They beat him until he lost consciousness.”
“They left him to die.”
“Before he lost consciousness, lying in his own blood, he thought to himself: ‘What a shame. The descendants of the Maccabees are lying here in mud, unable to defend themselves,” he continued. “He promised himself that if he would survive the night, he would bring his family to the Land of Israel and help build a new future for the Jewish people in Israel.”
Netanyahu then brought the scene back to the present-day.
“I am sitting here now as the Prime Minister of Israel because my grandfather kept his promise,” he said. “Here in the Land of Israel we have returned to what the Jewish nation did not have for thousands of years: security.”
“Security to stand up for ourselves and secure ourselves under our own sovereignty, to protect ourselves with our own power – security not just to survive, but to alloy one of the most advanced countries in the world,” he continued.
“We are a nation that aspires to peace – our hands are extended in peace to all who choose to grasp them,” he added.
“But to our enemies, I say: there is no baton, there is no rocket, there is nothing that can defeat us – because we are united in our faith and in our right to our land – the Land of Israel.”
Just in: Two men arrested in NSW over ‘public beheading’ plot.
A NEIGHBOUR of two men arrested in counterterrorism raids this morning said he had become afraid of them in recent months.
Omar al-Kutoba, 24, and Mohammad Kiad, 25 are suspected of planning to carry out an attack yesterday, amid suspicions they were plotting a public beheading.
A machete, a hunting knife and a flag associated with Islamic State were among items seized in the raids on their Fairfield home, along with a video of a man talking about carrying out an attack.
Neither man appeared during a brief hearing in Fairfield court, in Sydney’s west this afternoon, where prosecutor Michael Allnutt said they are facing a “very, very serious allegation.”
Both have been charged with preparing or planning a terrorist act.
How’s this for a first para from a mere columnist who wishes to take up Obama’s empty rhetoric about modern Islam and the Christianity of a thousand years ago?
I have written three books and numerous articles about the Crusades, slavery and the Inquisition, so I suppose I am, forgive me, somewhat qualified to discuss them. Not, of course, as expert as President Barack Obama, because he seems to be an authority on pretty much everything.
The columnist is Michael Coren writing in the Toronto Sun, under the heading, Obama dodges tough questions of Islam. His conclusion, in what is anyway a short article, seems to be this:
As I say, I have written entire books about the context and nuance of all this so a column can never satisfy. What Obama was perhaps trying to say was that people use religion to conduct all sorts of evil deeds and in that he is correct. But if he genuinely understood history and religion, he would know that Christ’s actual teachings were seldom the reason for ancient injustices.
The question that must be asked – and Obama and so many like him have neither the courage nor the wit to do so – is whether the same can be said of Islam.
Ahem, ahem. Obama does, of course, know the answer, which is why he does so much to evade the question.
Barack Obama’s ignorance of almost everything relevant to politics and history is a phenomenon that never gets called out by the knee-padded media in the US. So on he goes, this time attempting to excuse the barbarity of the “Islamic State” by saying that Christians have been just as bad. There have been wars between Islam and the Christian West, sometimes fought in Europe (Tours 732 A.D.; Vienna 1529/1683), sometimes in the Middle East (Crusades 11th-12th centuries) and sometimes on the Mediterranean (Lepanto 1571 A.D.). These were defensive wars if ever there have been. We wished to preserve our way of life against an invading enemy.
But if you are looking for a truly horrific story of invasion and cruelty, you need to look at the virtually unknown Mughal invasion of India. I knew nothing of it until I came across it reading through Will and Ariel Durant’s eleven volumes on the history of civilisation. They begin with these words, from which they go on to show in complete detail just how sound their judgment is:
The Mohammedan Conquest of India is probably the bloodiest story in history. It is a discouraging tale, for its evident moral is that civilization is a precarious thing, whose delicate complex of order and liberty, culture and peace may at any time be overthrown by barbarians invading from without or multiplying within.
It is a story that is being repeated today in the midst of our own Western civilisation. It is being exactly repeated everywhere the Islamic State manages to find its way to power. I am not interested in debating theological issues with Muslims. But I am very interested in protecting our way of life from marauders who undertake their invasions in the name of Islam. The sickening inanities of Obama are pathetic in their ignorance, but are vastly dangerous in lulling us into any kind of limits on the defences we build against an enemy that remains as terrifying and barbaric today as it was a thousand years ago.
But also sixty-plus years a Canadian. That is the way it is with us migrants.
Today is the fortieth anniversary of my arrival in Australia. Very few decisions are as momentous as choosing to shift countries, even from within one part of the Empire to another. But there are few decisions I have ever made that I feel as content with, yet I also feel all of the loss of the closeness of family and friends.
I was also part of the first cohort who was required to get a migrant visa, the new law having come into effect on 1 January 1975. And the one part of my interview with the chap from the embassy I have always remembered was that, my having pronounced Nullarbor wrong, he corrected me on where the accent went, and then said that there are some who think the Romans might have been here, since ‘null arbor” is Latin for no tree. A fantastic coincidence if true, although only if it actually is an Aboriginal name.
