The media don’t even pretend any more

You don’t often find an honest reporter in the US, but here we have finally found one. She honestly explains how the media must distort the news every day in ensuring that Trump loses. Here is the full posting by John Hinderaker: Wapo Columnist: Let’s Gang Up on Trump.

The Washington Post’s media columnist, Margaret Sullivan, who is also a former Public Editor of the New York Times, has an idea that she claims is novel, but may sound familiar to Republicans: news outlets should coordinate their efforts to defeat Donald Trump! It really is an extraordinary column:

Media outlets have given the likely Republican presidential nominee something like $2 billion worth of free exposure and, in many cases, let him get away with blatant falsehoods — even about something as basic as whether he did or didn’t support the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

Maybe I missed it, but I don’t recall liberal columnists objecting to Trump’s free publicity during the primary season, when it helped him defeat Republicans who would have been stronger general election candidates.

Fairness is of utmost importance, no doubt, whether the reporting is on Trump, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. But what, exactly, does it mean in campaign coverage? It should mean keeping an open mind, not bringing preconceived ideas to one’s reporting, and listening seriously to candidates’ explanations.

It should never mean false equivalency, where equal time and emphasis are given to candidates or dissembling is allowed to go unchallenged. …

News outlets ought to rethink the purpose of their campaign coverage. It’s not to be equally nice to all candidates. It’s to provide Americans with the hard information they need to decide who is fit to lead the country.

In other words, the job of a reporter is to help win the election for Hillary Clinton. It isn’t long before this conclusion becomes explicit:

There have been encouraging moments: CNN’s Jake Tapper pushing Trump hard for clarity on an endorsement from former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke. Fox’s Megyn Kelly (before she went all fan-girl) asking a searing question about Trump’s treatment of women in a Republican debate. The Times’s investigation into Trump’s hiring of foreign workers at his Florida club, Mar-a-Lago. The Post’s reporters pushing so hard for answers on Twitter about claimed charitable contributions to veterans that Trump found it necessary to hold a news conference.

We need much more of this in every medium. Every day, in every news cycle.

Every day, every news cycle, in every medium: beat up on Trump!

Rather than promoting the same treatment for each candidate, how about this: rigorous and sustained truth-telling in the public’s interest. Citizens deserve some fairness, too.

Don’t treat Trump the same way you would treat a Democrat!

It’s time for tough follow-up questions, time for TV news to pick up on some of the hard-hitting reporting being done elsewhere, and maybe — radical notion alert! — it’s even time for news organizations to get together and prepare to defend themselves.

So news organizations should form a cabal to smear Donald Trump. But, hey, it’s self-defense!

That won’t come naturally to these highly competitive outfits, but given the assault on press rights that surely would come with a Trump presidency, strength in numbers is a far better idea than providing even-handed, nonconfrontational coverage.

What is the “assault on press rights” that “surely” would accompany a Trump presidency? It’s hard to say. Maybe she is referring to Trump’s desire to liberalize defamation law, or maybe she imagines there is a press right not to be contradicted. In any event, it’s not every day you see a journalist come out openly against “even-handed coverage,” while advocating ganging up on a disfavored politician, i.e., “strength in numbers.” We always knew that this is how liberals think, but it is unusual to see one of them put it in writing.

Jake Tapper asked if he thought it was a conflict of interest

This is the bit from this story – Sanders hits Clinton Foundation over foreign donations – that has to make you ponder just how corrupt the American media is:

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders criticized the Clinton Foundation for accepting donations from foreign governments in an interview aired Sunday, calling it a conflict of interest.

“Do I have a problem when a sitting secretary of State and a foundation run by her husband collects many, many dollars from foreign governments — governments which are dictatorships?

“Yeah, I do have a problem with that. Yeah, I do,” Sanders said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

When host Jake Tapper asked if he thought it was a conflict of interest, Sanders said, “I do.”

Look Jake, you wouldn’t want to jump to any conclusions, would you?

Chapter One: The Vase

clinton crisis of character

Secret Service agent to release tell-all book about the Clinton White House and the culture that ‘sickened’ him. The main points:

  • Gary Byrne says he was posted outside Bill Clinton’s Oval Office in 1990s
  • Was one of the agents who testified to a grand jury about Monica Lewisnky [sic]
  • Complained about her behavior and ‘out of hours’ access to the West Wing
  • Releasing book so voters understand the ‘real’ Clinton before the election
  • Reports say his expose is causing deep concern in the White House
  • The release of the book comes a month before the Democratic convention
  • Secret Service agents have openly discussed protecting Hillary in the past
  • Investigative journalist Ron Kessler said agents detested Hillary

My guess is that if the book is being published there’s nothing in it that will disturb Hillary. I’ve heard every story before and it has not made any difference. Character may be destiny, but policy sense is what we are looking for in a president, which this discusses not at all. If Obama can get away with his book being written by Bill Ayers, this will make less noise than a tree falling in the forest.

Facts be damned

trump economic tweet

Obama said the economy is great, thanks to him, and Trump therefore tweeted the above sets of data which the Washington Post then fact checked. The result: WashPost’s Bump ‘Fact-Checks’ Trump’s Retweeted Obama Economy Charts: Facts Win, 9-0.

Readers can rest assured that despite [The Washington Post‘s] pitiful efforts, the chart-containing tweet which Trump retweeted still stands tall. Trump struck out the Obama-supporting side on nine pitches, er, charts. Bump doesn’t even have a clue that this is objectively the case.

The charts in the retweet are based purely on facts. Each clearly indicates in its red-shaded area what has happened during Barack Obama’s presidency, Each shows that the trends presented have gotten worse under Obama.

You would actually think these journalists would prefer to see the economy run well than have a Democrat in the White House. In fact, they just don’t care. They will continue to lie and mislead to protect the Obama legacy, such as it is, and to get Hillary elected in spite of everything. It is all politics all of the time, and facts be damned.

Does Obama have anything to do with the American election this year?

trump foreign policy

This is not a particular good article, but the point it makes is a serious one: 3 Reasons We’ve Forgotten Obama in the 2016 Race — and Why We Shouldn’t.

[Let me] illustrate a particular media trend — a blindness to the powerful impact of over seven years of a disastrous presidency. How does Obama get off the hook for all this? Why do we not see the 2016 election for what it rightly is, a referendum on his failed presidency? Here are three key reasons, from the least effective to the most.

The real reason is that virtually the whole of the media support the Democrats and can barely push the keys to say a word of criticism of Obama. This will be the problem from here to November. Whether Trump can withstand what he will need to deal with over the coming months is the question, along with how much help will he get from the RNC along with how much he will ask for. As noted here, The media have reached a turning point in covering Donald Trump. He may not survive it. It’s the Washington Post, so they will do all they can to make sure that he doesn’t withstand it, but we are certainly about to find out.

It is not enough to just say “what a jerk” and then move on

Sure it’s funny in a pathetic kind of way. Sure the president of the United States has been elected because he can read a teleprompter while having black skin. Sure we know he pretended to have written two books when we know the first one was written by the communist Bill Ayres and the second was just a gaggle of campaign rhetoric written by no one in particular. The only people who will find the video truly funny are our enemies, the enemies of the United States, the enlightenment and Western civilisation. They laugh at us because so many across the US are simpletons and fools, and their president is all the proof they need.

The real issue is not how funny the video is but what can be done about what it reveals? It is essential to recognise that it is the media, our universities and that proportion of our own societies who are members of the far left that need to be countered with some kind of strategy. Donald Trump has begun what must not become merely his own theme, with no one else entering these wars on his side. Our enemies must be called out. Those who support Obama must be themselves made to share in the shame in having been taken in by such a transparent charlatan. The institutions that have given a pass to the infantile fantasies of the left must be ridiculed and deprived of funds. There is a great deal that needs to be done, but who will do it?

Delusional thinking is kind of like deceiving yourself

When I use the word delusional, there is nothing necessarily psychotechnical about it. So I went to the most authoritative source I could find, and this is what it says on Google:

Delusional comes from a Latin word meaning “deceiving.” So delusional thinking is kind of like deceiving yourself by believing outrageous things. Delusional thoughts are often a sign of mental illness, but the word can also be used more loosely to describe behavior that is just not realistic.

So perhaps this is only delusional in a loose sort of way:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday delivered a fervent appeal for a Democratic successor, wading deeper into the race to replace him even as his party has yet to produce a presumptive nominee.

Without mentioning any presidential candidates by name — Democrat or Republican — Obama lambasted what he said were economic myths peddled by the GOP, insisting any clear-eyed assessment shows the country better off now then when he took office.

The GFC began and ended during the presidency of George W. Bush. Again from Google:

The financial crisis of 2007–08, also known as the global financial crisis and the 2008 financial crisis, is considered by many economists to have been the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Obama became President in January 2009. All the hard work had been done. He had the easier job of building the American economy back up. If he thinks things are better now than on the day he took over, I know which meaning of delusional I would choose.

And when you have decided about economic policy, let us move onto how well he thinks he’s done on medical care and peace in the Middle East. You might also find this interesting which is a CNN report on the speech in which the following video is taken. Guess which bit is never mentioned.

I might just further add that this has been up all day at Drudge, very unusual, and still has had only 757,071 hits. The reach of conservative-leaning media is small. Obama is such an embarrassment but they might still elect Hillary. And if the media has its way, they will.

How delusional is he? This delusional

This is no more than a teleprompter malfunction, which as usual exposes Obama as the inarticulate nonentity he actually is. His incoherence is protected by the media in the same way that FDR was never shown in a wheelchair by the press in his time. But that Obama should say one word about how he has begun some kind of social healing process which Donald Trump is about to tear apart is an example of such delusion that it does truly make you worry about the health of the American democracy.

And if you have any thoughts that the US remains a basically sound society without corruption now to its very roots, there is this to add to everything else you know. This story is bizarre because it is bizarre, but also because you won’t find this written in any of the mainstream media: Stunning Hidden Agendas Exposed – Trump University Lawsuit Brought By Firm Who Paid $675,000 To Bill and Hillary Clinton…. And if you find that bizarre, then what about this about the judge:

Donald Trump has accused Judge Gonzalo Curiel as having a bias, a specific agenda bias, to the benefit of the plaintiffs in the case; and it appears he is correct.

Judge Curiel, an activist for illegal immigration, even went as far as to work on behalf of San Diego La Raza activists to select illegal aliens for scholarships.

Go to the link and see it for yourself.

UPDATE: Never to be found in the mainstream press, but now at least posted at Drudge: Judge Presiding Over Trump University Case Is Member Of La Raza Lawyers Group.

United States District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel, the man presiding over the class-action lawsuit against Trump University, is a member of the La Raza Lawyers of San Diego and oversaw the gift of a law school scholarship to an illegal alien.

In his 2011 judicial questionnaire to become a federal judge, Curiel revealed his history with La Raza. GotNews.com originally reported this Tuesday, and The Daily Caller has independently verified.

Curiel lists “La Raza Lawyers of San Diego” as a legal association he has been a part of in the questionnaire. Curiel’s office at the United States District Court for the Southern District of California confirmed to TheDC the judge’s membership in the group.

Curiel reveals more ties to the group in his questionnaire. He has spoken at two receptions held by La Raza Lawyers of San Diego, the most recent being in 2011. Last year, the group also held a reception for Curiel. The description of the event says, “This year we are proud to be honoring Judge Gonzalo Curiel at our reception and recognizing him for his leadership and support to the community and to our Association!”

That won’t, of course, stop Hillary, the Democrats and the media from pushing the case as an example of something. And this fact doesn’t, of course, mean that there isn’t something questionable here, although it raises many, many doubts that there is. And there would not have been anyone on the Republican side with some skeleton, either real or manufactured, that could not have been produced. It remains the case with Donald Trump, however, that at least he will fight it out on the ethical end and will not be cowed into retreat.

What is literally never in the news

The video is from a Roger Simon post titled, Trump States the Obvious about the Press, that they select what to include and what to leave out. Bias is inevitable, but the dangers come when you can see what is left out. The video above ought to be news but nowhere is. This is the text that comes with the video:

Published on May 31, 2016
Muslim savages turn Paris into war zone, again. France. May 31, 2016. Just another day in your neighborhood with your Muslim sub-animal neighbors. As usual, there is a complete media blackout about the events from the despicably dishonest, corrupted, traitorous, Sharia compliant mainstream media, while the equally corrupted, traitorous, Sharia compliant government officials (Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, François Hollande, President of France, and their counterparts David Cameron from U.K., Angela Merkel from Germany, etc.) continue flapping their oral sphincter and diarrhea of the mouth about Islamofauxbia and denying the existence of Islamic “no-go zones” or (called “zones urbaines sensibles” in French, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/world…) while in reality, there are now 751 of those, and counting, keeping the true citizens in the dark until the very last minutes their heads are on the chopping blocks while the corrupted traitors themselves prepared for their own sound exits with stuffed coffers of bribed petrodollars from the Islamofascists Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Yemen, etc., just like the 9-11 terrorists’ taqiyya telling airline passengers that they would be ok and alive as long as they conform to the terrorists’ orders (we all know how that ended), or like ISIS’s taqiyya telling the victims in orange jumpsuits that they would be alive, so that they would appear calm on camera until the minutes their heads are sawed off. The same traitors dhimmis morons (David Cameron) engages in endless, meaningless debates condemning truth sayers like Donald Trump, Geert Wilders and blocking their entries into U.K while their countries are being overrun by Muslim sub-animals flying ISIS flags, with cities after cities falling into Muzzy hands (London-istan now with Muslim terrorist as mayor). There would likely be bloodbath and civil wars, if the non-Muslim citizens refuse to pay jizya (Islamic tax that imposed on non-Muslims for the right to live under Sharia compliant Muslim society) and want to live. Whether that would happen now when the population of Muslim sub-animals in most Western societies are still in single digit, or later when it becomes much greater, the choice is clear. “Je suis Charlie”, “Je suis Paris”, “Je suis Brussels”, “Je suis London”, “Je suis Madrid”, soon to be “Je suis Berlin”, “Je suis Washington D.C.”, etc. while the bought out, corrupted dhimmis announced climate control as the most serious national security threats. Vote Trump.

The question he is asking is why does only Trump ask the media not just to report the news honestly but to actually report what is going on. The same point is made by Andrew Klavan:

Many of the Republican candidates defeated by Donald Trump — and Ted Cruz, who is fighting a last-ditch battle against him — have complained that the news media created the Trump candidacy with (Cruz’s words) “hundreds of millions of dollars of free advertising.” That seems to me half true. The news media did give the odious Donald a boost, but they did it by spewing such a ceaseless fume of left-wing lies that Trump’s simplistic nonsense, by comparison, sounds like “telling it like it is.”

The charge that the news media is biased toward Democrats is an old one, but only because the truth of it is so ludicrously apparent. When the chief anchor of ABC News is a former Clinton operative, when the best investigative reporter at CBS News had to quit because the network wouldn’t run her stories about Obama’s malfeasance, when the former anchor at NBC News actually bowed to Obama like a courtier to a king, Andrew Breitbart’s accusation that we’re dealing with a “Democrat-Media Complex” seems much too polite.

To some extent, the ideological corruption of our press is an outgrowth of the shattered American political consensus. As our politics has become more European and extreme, so our media has become more European and partisan. It is a shame, however, that news outlets should skew so entirely to one side, that fifty percent of the country should find itself insulted, coerced and lied to on a daily basis.

Why criticise Trump for this is beyond me. As the data on Confidence in Institutions shows, newspapers are near the bottom of the list and TV news is even lower.

Trump dealing with his critics the media

Almost an hour long but very entertaining as well as enlightening. Also reported here: Trump taunts media to its face. This may have been the most dramatic moment as the largest part of the press conference was devoted to replying to the media about whether or not he had raised money for veterans.

He called out Tom Llamas, a journalist with ABC News.

“I could have asked all these groups to come here and I didn’t want to do that. I’m not looking for credit. But what I don’t want is, when I raise millions of dollars, have people say, like this sleazy guy right over here from ABC,” Trump said, pointing to Llamas. “He’s a sleaze in my book. You’re a sleaze because you know the facts and you know the facts well.”

To establish the facts, he therefore read out the individual cheques that had been distributed to Veterans Organisations which totalled so far $5.6 million. A reminder of just how much the media can be trusted to report those facts. He also seemed to have recognised that he will not win California in an election:

In his opening remarks, he wished LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers good luck in the NBA finals.

He is thus still hoping to win Ohio who are playing Oakland.
