The only hope for young socialists is that they will grow out of it, dimwits that they are

Such a sanctimonious fool. If she were really willing to be unpopular she would oppose the stupidities she is mouthing in relation to the facts she is so ignorant about. Disgusting and beyond idiotic. Knows nothing about anything she needs to know. A 15-year nitwit who knows only how to get approval from the semi-adults she is surrounded by at every turn. Could she even repeat a single argument actually made by those who disagree with her, not the empty phrases she mouths that will turn her life upside down if they actually become policy. Repulsive in every way one can think. Our crisis is the crisis of socialism and ignorance.

Democracy For Young People is, in my opinion a very compelling analysis of the ills of our democracy. It’s a very simple idea – which is that electoral democracy massively underrepresents three classes of people whose influence on democracy the great anti-democrats of the ancient world (i.e. all the thinkers whose work has come down to us in any substantial form) were most hostile to. The young, the poorly educated and the poor.

I thought the ‘solutions’ section would end up at selection by lot, but it moved right along from that to lowering the voting age (dramatically!). But then the conclusion on what to do was an afterthought, and not really the focus of the podcast. The analysis was compelling. It’s good points are that the ideas are very simple, clearly important. They’re also clearly right to some extent, though of course there could be very wide reasonable disagreement on that extent.

So I recommend it.

I recommend it too, in the sense of know thine enemy.

Hallelujah

Christmas at an Irish school for kids with severe autism…. the primary singer could barely converse when she started at the school. And then this:

There are people even there who have never heard choral singing beyond three guitars and a drum.

And a Happy Christmas to you all

Of all things, there I was sitting in my favourite cafe and what do they play but the world’s most notorious Christmas song, Baby it’s Cold Outside. But let’s face it, that might work in America but it just won’t do for us here in Australia. I have therefore adjusted the words to suit. And if climate change becomes a reality, perhaps this is what they’ll have to sing everywhere.

Baby it’s Hot Outside

I really can’t stay (Baby it’s hot outside)
I gotta go away (Baby it’s hot outside)
This evening has been (Been hoping that you’d dropped in)
You do inspire (I’ll hold your hands they’re just like fire)
My mother will start to worry (Beautiful what’s your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the air conditioner roar)
So really I’d better scurry (Beautiful please don’t hurry)
Well maybe just a half a drink more (I’ll put some music on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (Baby it’s bad out there)
Say what’s in this drink? (No cabs to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I’ll take your hat, your hair looks swell) (Why thank you)
I ought to say no, no, no sir (Mind if move in closer?)
At least I’m gonna say that I tried (What’s the sense of hurtin’ my pride?)
I really can’t stay (Baby don’t hold out)
Baby it’s hot outside

Ah, you’re very pushy you know?
I like to think of it as opportunistic
I simply must go (Baby it’s hot outside)
The answer is no (But baby it’s hot outside)
The welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and cool (why don’t you try the pool)
My sister will be suspicious (Gosh your lips look delicious!)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon a tropical shore)
My maiden aunt’s mind is vicious (Gosh your lips are delicious!)
Well maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a heat wave before) (And I don’t even smoke)

I’ve got to get home (Baby it’s 40 degrees out there!)
You’ve really been grand, (I feel when I touch your hand)
But don’t you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
There’s bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my life long sorrow!)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you had heat stroke and died!)
I really can’t stay (Get over that old out)
Baby it’s hot
Baby it’s hot outside

Okay fine, just another drink then
That took a lot of convincing!

And in case you are unsure of the tune, I am providing two more traditional versions so that you can sing along with the lyrics found above.

And in case you are worrying about the politically incorrect implications, of the song, there is also this.

And if I don’t make it back to the keyboard today, may you have a peaceful and happy Christmas shared with those you love and who love you.

Mandatory free speech

Ontario government’s free speech policy for schools a good first step. This should be the easiest law ever to obey since it should be happening automatically and already.

Call it another promise made, promise kept by the Ford government. Although it’s sad the promise ever had to be made.

I’m talking about the pledge to have every university and college across the province adopt a free speech policy by Jan. 1, 2019.

“Colleges and universities should be places where students exchange different ideas and opinions in open and respectful debate,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said in August when he gave the schools the deadline.

The premier is right, that is what colleges and universities should be, unfortunately too many have been willing to shut out ideas they don’t like. Mostly conservative ones.

So far the schools, all 20 publicly funded universities and 24 colleges, appear to be on track for meeting the deadline.

Plenty of laughs and few rules

A depraved story – Woody Allen’s Secret Teen Lover Speaks: Sex, Power and a Conflicted Muse Who Inspired ‘Manhattan’ – but this is the best bit.

Despite the initial shock of jealousy, Engelhardt says she grew to like Farrow over the course of the “handful” of three-way sex sessions that followed at Allen’s penthouse as they smoked joints and bonded over a shared fondness for animals. (“When Mia was there, we’d talk about astrology, and Woody was forced to listen,” she laughs.)

They sat around talking about astrology!!! But come on. Woody was born on December 1 and look at what it says:

A Sagittarius born on December 1 is theatrical and flamboyant, with all-too-human flaws. They use their sense of humor to showcase their bubbly personality. They are impulsive, sometimes to their detriment. Despite warnings from loved ones, these feisty people are determined to live life on their terms. That generally means plenty of laughs and few rules.

As for her, whatever her start, she seems to have come out all right. Must have been in her stars.

MY OWN BIRTHDAY HOROSCOPE: The science is settled:

You are unpredictable and friendly, thus a charming companion, especially when it’s time to party. At the same time however, duty is duty and this is often shown in your persistence and determination to make things right.

Here’s the rest:

People born on this date are loving, loyal and aiding of those around them and this makes them a great go to help when others have obstacles of all kinds. They appreciate confidence and have a great sense of justice therefore they try to surround themselves with people who carry the same values as them. They are amicable but not extremely social because they are often put off by immaturity and vanity. They enjoy spending time in peaceful places, away from noise and disruptions.

Positive traits: Relentless, neat and orderly, these natives have great self control. Capricorn people are usually active task achievers but also very calm and accommodating persons. Those born under this sign are also diligent and honest. They tackle everything they have to do with great attention and always having in mind the people around them.

Negative traits: Narrow minded and often prone to mood swings, these natives are hard to deal with at times. They are fixed in their ways and when things show the slightest sign of unpredictability they transform themselves altogether. They also have suspicious natures and are reticent to change although once things are being explained to them properly and they accustom themselves to novelty, they are quick to promote it everywhere.

Love and Compatibility

Lovers born on this date are dependable and romantic. They seek for a lifetime partner to whom they can commit and create a balanced and accomplishing relationship. They are attracted to enthusiastic and imaginative people that are as reliable as they are. You can conquer the heart of Capricorn if you are trustworthy and energetic. When they are single they are in no hurry to enter a relationship if they don’t feel it’s the right thing to do, they focus instead on their own self development.

They’re a gentle and reserved lover that would rather suffer from unrequited love than fight to win the heart of the one they love. Their relationships are likely to grow on friendships as they need time to know the person that stays beside them. Despite the fact that they are friendly and a generally happy person it is quite difficult for them to settle for someone, probably because they are expecting things to happen instead of making them happen. They are most compatible with those born on 1st, 2nd, 10th, 11th, 19th, 20th, 28th and 29th.

People born on this date are most attached to the other two earth signs: Taurus and Virgo as they tend to share the same vision of life. In love, Capricorn is in a constant search for an attractive and creative companion who can enrich their life and the best to offer them this is the native in Cancer. The least compatible with people born on January 16 are those born under Sagittarius. As for the rest of compatibilities between the other star signs and Capricorn, you know what they say, stars predispose but people dispose.

Well, I am married to a Taurus and we are heading towards our 40th! But as I like to remind people, being a Capricorn means one is generally sceptical which means we don’t take astrology seriously.

“For whatever reason, the EU wants to become an Islamic state”

To have been born after WWII and in the West means I have lived my life in the best time and best place in World History. I doubt those who come next will be so fortunate. From Last Days of the European Christmas Markets.

The EU honchos knew — from experience — that periodic terror attacks would be part of their refugee mandate. I contend that this is a feature and not a bug in their plan. They don’t “lack the will” to do anything about it; what we are seeing is their will.

The Christmas Markets will disappear, as will all the other even nominal acknowledgments to the God of the Bible. For whatever reason, the EU wants to become an Islamic state.

The socialist mafia think they can improve on our Judeo-Christian ethic and civilisation. They cannot, and to adapt a phrase from the past, they shall inherit the whirlwind.

NOT TO MENTION THIS: Newly Elected Muslim Congresswomen Ridicules VP Pence’s Christian Faith.

It appears that the two newly elected Muslim Congresswomen are already bringing anti-Christian hate into our federal government with a broadside directed against Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian religion.

The two Muslims ridiculed Pence with a Tweet containing a photo of the VP along with a snide caption reading, “Jesus take the wheel!”

Marrakesh express derailed

Migration is not a solution to world poverty. Economic growth and development is the only solution. Make poor countries less poor, not make wealthy countries also poor. This is the final para in a post by Judy in The Weekend Oz: World in no hurry to board the Marrakesh Express on migration.

The principal roles of a sovereign government are to protect the nation’s borders and to act in the best interests of its own citizens. To do otherwise is to invite internal dissent, something Macron is beginning to learn. There are lessons for other world leaders.

Such as our own! A few more quotes for those who are paywalled out.

Individual countries are more than capable of sorting out the size and type of immigrants they require….

The final version was belted out across 18 months of expensive consultations. But note that many parties who made suggestions to rework the document — to emphasise the importance of countries’ sovereignty, for example — essentially were ignored.

Last week, a spokesman for the US government summed up that country’s refusal to sign the compact by labelling it “an effort by the United Nations to advance global governance at the expense of the sovereign right of states”….

The central aim of the compact is to convert illegal migration into regular migration, with all the associated privileges accorded to legal migrants…. Economic migration is seen as an inalienable human right….

The compact then dives into equally dangerous water by stating that one objective is to “eliminate all forms of discrimination and promote evidence-based public discourse to shape perceptions of migration”. In other words, descriptions of migration that are not positive and fulsome should not be permitted….

If we look at the attitudes of ordinary citizens to migration around the world, it is clear that a rising proportion is opposed to high migrant intakes. Indeed, in many countries, the largest proportion of citizens would prefer reduced or zero migration.”

Nancy Pelosi sexist

Is what Nancy Pelosi said intended to be an insult: Pelosi Mocks Trump: ‘As If Manhood Could Ever Be Associated With Him’?

Let’s get this parsed correctly.

1) Pelosi is trying to insult the President.

2) In intending to insult the President, she says: “It’s like a manhood thing for him. As if manhood could ever be associated with him. This wall thing.”

3) This is only insulting if manhood is a positive attribute which Pelosi denies is present in PDT.

4) The intended insult is that the President lacks manhood, whose absence diminishes PDT’s being since its presence is positive.

5) Thus “manhood” is understood by Pelosi to be preferable to its absence.

6) Manhood is an aspect of “the patriarchy”, almost by definition.

7) There are therefore aspects of the “patriarchy” whose presence is a positive feature in any male.

8) Such aspects of the patriarchy, such as manhood, are useful features in a president.

9) Can a woman show “manhood”?

10) Is Nancy Pelosi being a blatant sexist?

A modern libertarian discusses the problems of immigration

This is from Gary North in the Journal of Libertarian Studies: The Sanctuary Society and its Enemies

In the United States today, the waiting period for citizenship is as short as five years. The waiting period is similar in other democratic nations. This, not the threat of economic competition, is the problem of immigration for the free society. Because the citizen authoritatively declares the law and seeks to impose it on others, he can become a threat to the free society. The problem is the moral content of his confession of faith and his possession of civil sanctions, not his productivity and his possession of economic sanctions. Mises was short-sighted here: a nineteenth-century, anti-clerical, would-be value-free analyst, i.e., a liberal. It is not the welfare state as such that creates the problem of immigration; rather, it is the confession of faith of the would-be immigrants. If their confession inherently threatens the moral and judicial foundations of the free society, then immigration is a problem, with or without the presence today of a welfare state. Freedom is based on more than private contracts. It is based on a moral vision, which includes a vision of the moral boundaries of the state.

This is the single most important issue of our time. Read it all.
