A “smooth running machine” with changing parts

A few of PDT’s messages on twitter from today. There are 54 million of us who listen in. We are unlikely to be fooled by the MSM since we hear their version and the President’s. I cannot see how using twitter is “unpresidential”. Otherwise it’s just a piñata where everyone gets to take a swing. Better this way, and more entertaining.

Ivanka Trump & Jared Kushner had NOTHING to do with the so called “pushing out” of Don McGahn. The Fake News Media has it, purposely,so wrong! They love to portray chaos in the White House when they know that chaos doesn’t exist-just a “smooth running machine” with changing parts!

I just cannot state strongly enough how totally dishonest much of the Media is. Truth doesn’t matter to them, they only have their hatred & agenda. This includes fake books, which come out about me all the time, always anonymous sources, and are pure fiction. Enemy of the People!

What’s going on at is happening, to different degrees, at other networks – with being the worst. The good news is that Andy Lack(y) is about to be fired(?) for incompetence, and much worse. When Lester Holt got caught fudging my tape on Russia, they were hurt badly!

The devil’s not just in the detail

A very interesting post: Night of the Demon. Here’s the premise:

Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles Robert Barron has a theory.  He suggests that the Church — and perhaps the world at large — is struggling not just against a few disorganized human beings but something more powerful: an evolving, self-programming, viral “demonic element” that is almost impossible to destroy.  When Barron says the devil he means just that:

When I was going through school, the devil was presented to us as a myth, a literary device, a symbolic manner of signaling the presence of evil in the world. I will admit to internalizing this view and largely losing my sense of the devil as a real spiritual person. What shook my agnosticism in regard to the evil one was the clerical sex abuse scandal of the nineties and the early aughts. I say this because that awful crisis just seemed too thought-through, too well-coordinated, to be simply the result of chance or wicked human choice.

I’ve always thought that the Zoroastrians were onto something about the physical presence of evil in the world. But the truly difficult part is to know just which side one is on oneself.

I encourage you to read the entire article and then to continue with the comments as well.

Freedom of speech in Airstrip One

There was a time before the first of the socialist states came into existence when there might have been some lame excuse not to know how fanatically repressive such regimes are. There are no excuses today. In such regimes, it is as certain as certain can be that you have no freedoms and they impoverish you as well. Here is a story that remains accessible to anyone interested, but which for all too many, have no interest in learning from the past: Soviet censorship: How did the USSR control the public?

Yet it’s not as if they are not learning from history. They are. What they learn is that even the shallowest losers in a free society can get to the top and have untold wealth and power if they can fool just enough of the population for just long enough to get their hands on the levers of state. Meanwhile, there are fools aplenty willing to give them the power to set up their tyrannical regimes, from which there is no force within the regime that can bring deliverance.

The power of ignorance

Stunning! Senior Facebook Engineer Admits “We Tear Down Posters Welcoming Trump Supporters”

World Net Daily reported on a similar study that found that despite the tech giant’s claim to be “a fair and balanced arbiter of facts,” a significant percentage of searches produce material that leans politically either to the “left” or the “far left.”

And then there’s this: YOUTUBE BURIES ANN COULTER VIDEO TO PREVENT USERS FROM FINDING IT. They did a small test on whether something could be found on Youtube by typing in its name.

This is a perfect example of how big tech firms like Facebook, Google, and Youtube fashion their code to prevent conservatives from being found in search results and how viewers are given all liberal sources instead.

The folks at Information Liberation did a search for an Ann Coulter video entitled “How Trump Should Deal With Cohen & Manafort – Ann Coulter.” This video featured the best selling author’s appearance on C-Span last week where she slammed Big Tech for its bias against conservatives.

You’ll never guess what happened. And this is Ann Coulter. They are not only devious, but are rightly afraid that if the truth managed to leak out, the left would be finished beyond redemption. They do not seek truth but power. Keeping their minions as ignorant as possible is part of the way it is done.

Chattel in a chain of imposed and remotely determined obligations

Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology Branch – Academic Staff

National Councillor (Academic Staff)
Candidates First Preference Votes

NORMA Caroline   205      76.8%
KATES Steven         62       23.2%

I ran for the RMIT academic staff representative on the NTEU National Council and ended up with a quarter of the vote. So in this small way I have shown that the tertiary system is not yet totally beyond redemption. This was my campaign platform.

The heart and soul of a university are its academics.

Universities are now large, bureaucratic organisations who in many ways think of themselves as a business while still retaining the sentiments of our ancient academic traditions. My aim in joining the Council will be to act as a perpetual reminder to the university on why universities exist and the crucial role that the academics in our tertiary institutions play.

The top-down structure that now affects what we do and how we do it is taking much of the vitality out of our universities and is shaping our roles to suit the purposes of an efficient, profit-maximising organisation. There is, of course, nothing wrong with a university in trying to remain solvent. Paying its bills is what it must do.

But paying its bills is not what a university is for. A university is to carry the values of our common humanity forward by building on the hard-won knowledge of the past while contributing what we can ourselves in our hope to shape the future.

My own specialty area is in the History of Economic Thought, a very unfashionable part of the academic world. Yet it is in the overlap between history and economics that the ancient meets the modern, and indeed reaches out into the future.

Although my early career was as an academic, I have only been a senior academic for the past thirteen years, having spent most of my career in the private sector, and interestingly working in industrial relations. I know the IR system well and understand its crucial importance in maintaining the dignity of work in the face of employers who often do not.

Since returning to the academic world, I have published ten books, including a children’s book, Economics for Infants, and many papers.

With me elected to the Council as your academic representative, you will have someone in place who truly cares about your place in the scheme of things, and will not allow our position as mere chattel in a chain of imposed and remotely determined obligations to continue.

If it’s not illegal to say it then it should be illegal to prevent it from being said

TRUMP WARNS FACEBOOKGOOGLETWITTER
BIAS, CENSORSHIP FIRESTORM

Trying to find a positive story about PDT that is a week old on Google is often impossible. Sometime Duck Duck Go will allow me to access what I know is there, but sometime not. Google is virtually a certainty to be a dry well. Saying things on Facebook and Twitter that offend the left can get you shut down. From the above story, taken from Drudge:

Trump: Facebook, Twitter, Google are ‘treading on very, very troubled territory and they have to be careful’

  • Trump said in a tweet that Google’s search engine had “rigged” news story search results to show mostly “bad” stories about him and other conservatives. He later criticized Facebook and Twitter.
  • He says Google is prioritizing left-leaning outlets and warns that the situation “will be addressed.”
  • The president’s comments come a week before Google, Facebook and Twitter testify before Congress.
  • Larry Kudlow, Trump’s economic advisor, says the White House is “looking into” whether Google suppresses positive articles about the president.

News stories about Australia are usually findable since Google probably doesn’t care what we read. But they do care about what Americans read and prevent what they can from showing up in those narrow corridors inhabited by the wilfully ignorant. Try this story: China reportedly hacked Hillary Clinton’s home server and read all her emails, FBI agent Peter Strzok yawned. It begins:

This is from the Daily Caller because the mainstream media won’t pick up on it until they can figure out a way to say that China only did this at the behest of Russia and Trump.

Now simply routine for stories not to appear in the mainstream media and to disappear from various search engines in no time flat.

What to do is a hard issue since it is clear that an unbiased media would wipe the left out. The truth may set you free, but where will you find it if bias, distortion and fake news are your bread and butter?

My agenda for our new government

This is the agenda for the new government.

1) Balanced Budgets, Easing of Business Regulations and a Sharp Reduction in Public Spending

Modern macro, that teaches that spending, of itself, is the basis for economic growth, higher employment and rising wages is not just wrong, but if you think about it, cannot possibly be true. Spending on non-value-adding projects lowers real incomes and uses up our capital base in producing output with less value than the resources that have been used up. Governments should of course continue to offer welfare, but the fact that not everything can be afforded should be at the very forefront of every policy declaration. The fact of the matter is that governments are very poor at choosing which projects to back and their management of any form of investment is wildly profligate. The greater the level of public sector “investment” the more slowly the economy will grow and the slower the improvement in public welfare and real earnings.

2) Not Just Forget About Paris but there should be an Active Return to Fossil Fuels and Perhaps Even the Introduction of Nuclear Power

Climate change is a theory with very little evidence of its validity. To base our power generation on some madcap idea that we will be saving the planet at some unknown date in the future by savaging our industry, raising the cost of production in Australia and lowering our standard of living is a form of masochistic economic suicide that should be ended right now.

3) Sharp Reduction Migration Numbers

Irrespective of where migrants may originate, we cannot keep bringing in the numbers we are importing, even if every one of them began to work the day they arrived. Our infrastructure is not designed for the massive numbers who are coming to Australia to share in our wealth. It is with certainty that during the short- to medium-term, migrants reduce our per capital standard of living. We have a very tiny number of jobs that cannot be filled domestically by our existing population, and even then the price mechanism will efficiently sort out where our labour should go, and will do this by raising real wages. Migrant numbers keep real wage growth low, partly because of the competition provided by these additional numbers, and partly because migrants use up resources that they have not themselves contributed to the production of themselves.

4) Migration including the Taking of Refugees Must be Based on Cultural Compatibility of Potential Migrants with our Existing Population

Not every person who wishes to come to Australia has either the skill base to join our workforce or the cultural traits that will allow them to fit into out communities, even assuming that is what they wish to do. The international evidence of cultural incompatibilities is overwhelming. So is the domestic evidence.

5) Continue to Stop the Boats

This is The Coalition’s big strength. Not only must this continue, but more pressure must be put on Labor to stake out what they would do. You cannot trust the ALP on this, and this needs to be a big part of what is done to alert the community to the differences between the political philosophies of our major parties. Nor is it even a sign of compassion on their part. They do this to bring in voting numbers. It is political power that is sought and nothing else.

6) Defence of Western Civilisation

We are part of Western Civilisation, whose major traits include a degree of tolerance found in no other civilisation on the planet. We are a community that evolves through innovation and open discussion of which free speech is only one element but an essential one. We should make sure everyone who lives in our community understands and values the heritage from which the West has risen.

There is more to it than this, but this is where they should start.

Dangerous roads

The first in an article on The 20 Most Dangerous Roads In The World (20 Photos)

Karakoram Highway

Suburban Men

Connecting China to Pakistan, the “Friendship Highway” is actually not friendly at all. It’s 16,000 feet in the air, meaning altitude sickness is a serious issue for anyone braving its sharp turns. It also has the usual landslides, avalanches, rock slides and unpaved lanes common to mountain highways. You’re basically driving a narrow lane with flat rock on one side and an unguarded death drop on the other – plus it’s full of buses taking people to K2.

It’s a wild world out there. I’ve driven the Barton Highway between Yass and Canberra many times over without a scratch, but it is a complete pussy compared with the rest. No idea why it’s included [Number 8 on the list so these are definitely not ordered according to their intrinsic danger]. I have, however, driven the Canadian Rockies in the bad old days before the guardrails were put in, but in summer, and when young and with total awareness that one false move and its over. The roadways pictured are madness, and in the places where many of them are, the drivers are probably paid not much more than a few dollars an hour.
