No one has learned a thing

From an editorial in The Economist (14/2/15) with the title, “The German Economy. No new deal”. If you think anyone has learned anything from the past six years, please see below:

A first mistake is to insist that troubled euro-zone countries such as Greece not only make structural reforms to their economies, but simultaneously cut spending and borrowing (depressing demand). But a second is domestic. Given low interest rates, now would be a golden opportunity to borrow and invest more at home, boosting the economy and providing a Keynesian stimulus to the entire sluggish euro zone.

Their advice to the one European economy that has come out of the GFC relatively all right is to start copying every one of the idiocies perpetrated by the others.

Guess whose policies are anti-American, anti-Western, pro-Islamic

The “he” quoted below is a retired four-star admiral who commanded the U.S. Pacific Fleet during several Middle East flare ups. The title of the story is, Wartime admiral: Obama is ‘anti-American, pro-Islamic’. This is what he said.

“The Obama administration has a strategy. It is very simple. Any thinking American should be able to grasp it. It’s anti-American, anti-Western, it’s pro-Islamic, pro-Iranian, and pro-Muslim Brotherhood,” he said last week at a conference hosted by the conservative Center for Security Policy where he heads the military committee.

Won’t cause a ripple of notice, which is more incredible than anything else.

And just what were those lessons, Tim?

Let start with a later part of the story which is headed, Tim Wilson opens up over Gillian Triggs report:

Tony Abbott launched a broadside, saying the report was a “stitch up” and a “blatantly partisan politicised exercise” and the HRC “ought to be ashamed of itself” because it did not hold an inquiry when Labor was in power and thousands of people were drowning at sea and there were almost 2000 children in detention.

Of course, the inquiry has the most certain look of a partizan attack on the government, which the HRC would almost certainly never have conducted had Labor still been in government. Here, however, is the way the story began:

HUMAN Rights Commissioner Tim Wilson has thrown his support behind his embattled president Gillian Triggs, refusing to give oxygen to the political attacks clouding the findings of her children in detention report.

Speaking today at the National Press Club in Canberra, Mr Wilson said he supported all his commission colleagues but also backed the Coalition’s border protection policies saying “stopping the boats matters”.

“Let me make this clear, I support all my commission colleagues. I don’t want this to be a distraction,” Mr Wilson said.

He added he was not going to get involved in “engaging or fuelling the political debate around this report”.

“Focus on what it says, focus on the research that’s gone into it and the human stories that have gone into it. That is what needs to happen because if we don’t then The Forgotten Children report will simply be forgotten and so will the lessons from it.”

What, exactly, are those lessons? That it is bad for children to be in detention. Well, it’s also bad for children to be without their parents. It is no doubt also bad for adults to be in detention, but they are there for a reason. The HRC is actively pro-Labor, whose crocodile tears for children in detention are obvious to anyone who can spot hypocrisy at 1000 yards. The real worry for me, however, is why is The Australian giving such lift to this kind of story at this time?

Of course he’s the Manchurian candidate

Roger Simon has written an article in which he asks, Is Obama a Manchurian Candidate?. He says not because he wants to go one better:

I can’t believe I’m actually asking if Obama is a Manchurian candidate. I am so NOT into conspiracy theories. For me, it was always Oswald with the Mannlicher-Carcano in the Texas School Book Depository. The only conspiracy I ever believed in was the Black Sox Scandal. And yet… and yet….

No, I still don’t believe it. It’s simply not true. Barack Obama is not the Manchurian candidate. That’s just an excuse. The only problem is…

He’s worse.

I suppose you could say he’s not because he never was anything other than far left traitorous scum with no brainwashing required. Simon can thus write:

He can and is doing more damage without being one. A Manchurian candidate could be exposed (yes, and possibly could not). Barack Obama doesn’t need that. He and the media and the brainwashed public that elected him are destroying our country (and the West) all by themselves. They don’t need any secret conspirators in the back room. They’re all there in public view. And how.

And then there are the bill of particulars. These are actions that only an enemy of the United States would ever wish to endorse. No one interested in the health and welfare of the US would ever contemplate, never mind undertake, any of the following.

Obamacare and the sabotaging of the immigration system were bad enough, but they are absolutely trivial compared to what is going on now. We have the next thing to a jihadist in the White House only [come on, only the “next thing to”, not the absolute real thing in itself??]. From the inability to name Islamic terrorists as Islamic, to the failure to name Jews as the objects of homicidal anti-Semitism at a kosher market, to the complete omission of the word Christian when 21 Christians have their heads cut off (simultaneously!) for being Christian, we have in the Oval Office not only the worst president in the history of our country, we have the worst person to be president.

And now he is opening the door to a huge number of Syrian refugees, who knows how many of whom may be members of ISIS, al Qaeda or some group we haven’t even heard of yet. If I were a Christian or a Jew or even some sort of wishy-washy Muslim, I’d make sure your door was locked at night and you had exercised your Second Amendment rights.

And if this weren’t enough, Obama is colluding with the Iranian ayatollahs as if he were an Shiite imam, not only to help them get nuclear weapons, but to form a permanent alliance with the United States against the Sunni world. How insane is that! (As a side issue, answer this question: What is more important – whether Iran gets the bomb or whether Bibi Netanyahu speaks in front of Congress? Absolutely stupid question, isn’t it? Only our administration thinks it’s the latter.)

It’s much too precious to worry about the exact details of what a novel written more than fifty years ago specifically meant by a Manchurian candidate. And the candidate was not the soldier who had come back from Korea brainwashed by America’s enemies, but his step-father who was the actual candidate of the story, who fully and completely understood in whose interests he was acting, or if not him, then it was his all-American mother who knew perfectly well in every detail what was being done.

Obama is the Manchurian candidate, the one who is acting, no doubt in league with others, to take the American Republic down, in the interests of ayatollahs or some other equally sinister group who have backed Obama who give him their instructions, which he carries forward like the zombie presence he is. Who writes what shows up on his teleprompter, which he then duly reads? But still no one will say what needs to be said. It is still all about policy and not about who the American people, with their media, have elected president. You may fear for the future, but if no one will call Obama out, there is no fixing what has gone wrong.

Grey’s anatomy at the cinema

http://youtu.be/FqvCXqEFEjA

I confess to having gone to the movie, all in the interests of a sociological analysis of my fellow man and woman. It’s a book that has sold 100,000,000 copies since it was published in 2011, in comparison with the paltry 30,000,000 for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in all its years of publication.

There are some things I am happy to comment on, and other things I would never say a word about. This is of that second type. However, I came across this at Drudge, Fifty Shades of Grey: Rowdy women glass man at Valentine’s Day screening of sexy film which apparently occurred in Glasgow and was published in the Daily Mirror in the UK. And to my amazement, in the middle of this online British newspaper story, there was a video of the above review by our own Lisa Wilkinson at Channel 9, with the heading, “Is this the best review of Fifty Shades of Grey ever?”. Whether this is merely for us in Oz, or they saw this in the UK as well, I cannot tell. Tempted though I am to say what I thought, there would be no possible good that could come of it, although I will say that the sociologist in you might consider seeing what attracts 100 million readers in this day and age.

Who do you really think is winning around here?

Remember 911. That was in 2001. Now it’s 2015 and this is where we are, from Drudge:

ISIS releases video of Egyptians slaughtered…
Christians beheaded…
Sisi warns of response…
Cairo dispatches bombers…
Prisoners paraded in cages ‘to be burned alive’…
SHOWDOWN: 4,000 American troops headed to Kuwait…
Netanyahu Ad Shows ISIS Asking Directions — to Jerusalem…
Yemen’s last Jews eye exodus…

And then there’s this:

Copenhagen Attacks Renew Debate About Safety of Jews…

I will merely state for the record, it’s not just the Jews they should be worried about the safety of.

“Security to stand up for ourselves and secure ourselves under our own sovereignty”

An Israeli election ad. The translation:

“Many people around the world ask me, ‘how does such a young country, such a small country, who is attacked by enemies at every turn – how does such a country reach such great achievements?” Netanyahu begins.

Netanyahu then related to a personal story, about his grandfather, Natan Netanyahu Mileikowsky.

“He stood at a train station in the heart of Europe at the end of the 19th century, along with his younger brother Yehuda – two yeshiva [Torah academy – ed.] students,” he recounted. “Suddenly, they saw many anti-Semitic thugs waving batons, screaming, ‘Death to Jews.”

“My grandfather turned to his brother and told him, ‘Run, Yehuda, run!’” he continued. “He tried to chase after the thugs to save his brother. They beat him until he lost consciousness.”

“They left him to die.”

“Before he lost consciousness, lying in his own blood, he thought to himself: ‘What a shame. The descendants of the Maccabees are lying here in mud, unable to defend themselves,” he continued. “He promised himself that if he would survive the night, he would bring his family to the Land of Israel and help build a new future for the Jewish people in Israel.”

Netanyahu then brought the scene back to the present-day.

“I am sitting here now as the Prime Minister of Israel because my grandfather kept his promise,” he said. “Here in the Land of Israel we have returned to what the Jewish nation did not have for thousands of years: security.”

“Security to stand up for ourselves and secure ourselves under our own sovereignty, to protect ourselves with our own power – security not just to survive, but to alloy one of the most advanced countries in the world,” he continued.

“We are a nation that aspires to peace – our hands are extended in peace to all who choose to grasp them,” he added.

“But to our enemies, I say: there is no baton, there is no rocket, there is nothing that can defeat us – because we are united in our faith and in our right to our land – the Land of Israel.”

“Narcissistic, low-IQ president, utterly inadequate to the office he holds”

That is from John Hinderaker at Powerline, who adds:

There are many reasons why Barack Obama is unfit to be president, but one of the most basic is, he just isn’t smart enough to handle the job.

It’s not said enough and it’s not part of the national conversation enough. These same clowns laughed at GWB, but when serious stupid enters the White House, they say not a word, in part because they are too stupid to notice themselves. The post comes with a Ramirez cartoon as well but first an older, more famous Obama selfie.
