Kinesin of which you have never before heard a thing

From Meet the Kinesins, Your Body’s On-Time Cellular Supply Chain Trucking Fleet. Specially for those who think Darwinian random chance evolution is the cause of our existence. From the link:

Those billions of cells that make up your body require all kinds of supplies in order to fulfill their respective functions in keeping you alive and well. That’s where the “walking wonder” of the Kinesin family of molecular motors enters the picture.

As the Discovery Institute’s Evolution News & Science Today explains, the Kinesin-II is especially fascinating because of how it moves about supply-chain-like delivering needed supplies where and when required:

“Kinesin-II, one of the extended family of kinesin motors, is involved in a ‘relay race’ on a micro-miniature scale. It demonstrates how different families of molecular motors cooperate.

Kinesin-II “feet” move the molecular motor along its delivery route. (Screenshot from YouTube)

“This one works in synergy with other cargo-carrying motors in the important complex function known as ‘intra-flagellar transport’ (IFT) that builds and maintains cilia and flagella. An important example occurs in the neurons of the eye.”

As the following animated video demonstrates, the Kinesin-II has a couple of “feet” with which it moves itself along a receiving cell, as it unloads whatever supplies it happens to be carrying. Being a molecular motor, the Kinesin-II has distinct parts that require assembly in a specific sequence. It doesn’t happen by chance; it happens by design.

Watch the vid. It only takes 3 and a half minutes but is guaranteed to amaze you.

Alfred Adler

I have had a long-time interest in psychology – even having studied it at university as part of my undergraduate degree. But Freud I have never found made much sense and Jung does seem to go off in odd directions of his own. It is Alfred Adler that I have found the most compatible with my own way of thinking.

I came across this which has only made me appreciate Adler even further: Alfred Adler Quotes That Will Make You Reflect. This is what it says about Adler himself:

Alfred Adler was an Austrian medical doctor, psychotherapist, and founder of the school of individual psychology.

Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler are all giants in the world of psychology.

Adler was one of the original core members of the Vienna Psychoanalytic Society, which was led by Freud. His ideas were counter to Freud’s, and he split from the group and proposed an “individual psychology” based on his own original theories. His emphasis on the importance of feelings of inferiority, the inferiority complex, is recognized as an isolating element which plays a key role in personality development.

Adlerian psychology enjoys a broad base of support in Europe and the United States, and presents simple and straightforward answers to the philosophical question: How can one be happy?

I must admit, I didn’t even know of Alfred Adler or Adlerian psychology until I came across the book “The Courage To Be Disliked” by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga. It’s an excellent book and a great way to learn about the principles of Adlerian psychology in order to live a happy life.

Anyway, go to the quotes of which this one particularly stood out for me:

“The only normal people are the ones you don’t know very well.”

The other 39 are amazingly insightful as well. Oh well, let me mention one more.

“What is courage? Courage is the willingness to risk failure… There is only one danger I find in life, and that, indeed, is a real one. You may take too many precautions.”

There are now the other 38 for you to investigate yourself.

In case you have been wondering about Novavax

I have been looking everywhere for a medical assessment of Novavax which is the vaxxine that is more traditional and does not rely on mRNA molecules to produce whatever effects it supposedly produces. I have now been sent this for which I am extremely grateful.

This is its title, Novavax – hope or hype? but as a hint of what is to come, this is the sub-head: “Spoiler alert: it’s not what you were sold.” You can read the whole thing at the link. It’s quite detailed, and the writer seems knowledgable, but as with so much you will have to decide for yourself how much any of this can be trusted. This is how the post ends:

Even if adverse reactions to the Novavax vaccine are rarer than to the AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Moderna shots, any risk at all is, in my opinion, a completely unacceptable price to pay for a product that offers no clinically meaningful benefit to individuals nor any social benefit.

So, don’t bother inviting me to join your Novastan cult. I’m staying in the control group.

And if there are other assessments out there that you know of, please note them in the comments.

Further evidence of how mad the world has become

Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?

Shame Henry II had no one to rephrase and explain what the king had meant. Although, as it happens, the American President meant every word of it even if he was supposed to keep it a secret.

As discussed here.

The President of the United States, Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., who is 79 years old and suffering from senile dementia at the end of a long life of bullying, lying, boasting, conniving, grifting, grafting, and living off the public tit to an extent indecent even by Washington standards, declared war on Russia on Friday. In the course of a typically blustering, hectoring speech, the senescent Biden went off script and interpolated the following peroration: “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”…

During his long occupation of a Senate seat, Biden served for many years on the foreign-relations committee, and learned all the wrong lessons without acquiring an ounce of real-world savvy. This is the problem with electing a lifelong senator to the presidency with no prior executive experience except ribbon-cutting ceremonies and attending foreign funerals as veep. Senators’ words have no real-world consequences; presidents’ do. Senators can say anything they want, because their words carry no executive authority and they cannot be legally held accountable for them. They’re meant for the ears of voters back home, not for the guy in the Kremlin with his finger on the button.

And just what button is that?

The problem is that the current president  of the United States is no longer disciplined by anyone, although those who are in charge are keeping everything as closely under control as possible. Biden himself is as illegitimate as it is possible to be since the evidence that he was fraudulently installed into office becomes more undeniable with each passing day, not that the media will fail to deny anything amiss, and will never report how the election was stolen.

Meanwhile, just as The Spectator asks, “will Biden’s talent for f***-ups lead to World War III?”, the big issue in the US continues to be the almost certainly fake and premeditated incident at the Academy Awards. This really was the front page on the largest selling newspaper in America’s largest city.

The United States is no longer a serious country and we are in great danger the more we rely solely on American protection.

Mad, bad and dangerous to vote for

Came across two very similar articles on the net with almost identical titles and with sentiments very close to my own. First this: “We Live in a Time of Utter Madness and We’re Ruled by Lawless Monsters”. If you would like to see who was saying what, please go to the link.

And then there was this: The Sheer Madness of Today’s Left. This one is by Victor Davis Hanson, and this is part of what he writes.

When the rock of green and woke ideology hits the hard place of reality, sheer madness always results.

The world prices of oil and natural gas are skyrocketing. At the time of a major war in Ukraine, the Western democracies have framed the conflict as existential, with a Russia/Mordor on the attack against a declining West/Gondor.

A subtext of the struggle is that the world’s illiberal regimes—fossil-fuel exporting Russia, Venezuela, Iran, and the various Middle Eastern autocracies—are getting richer by the day while destroying Mother Earth, as noble gas and oil importing green Western nations can scarcely afford to drive or heat their homes.

And this is how the article ends:

Yet madness is predictable when the unchecked left-wing’s demand for limitless and endless power collides with a hated, but unremorseful ideological agenda utterly divorced from reality. Put simply, when ideologues demand power but cannot maintain it politically because they are cruel ideologues that destroy what they touch, expect more of their insanity to follow.

For the bits in the middle, you can go to the link, on the off chance you have not yourself recognised how mad the left is and how much worse they lately seem to have become.

Might add this one in since it seems to be based on a similar theme: Joe Biden’s Big Gaffe Perfectly Exposes the Imbecility of the ‘Experts’. Being an imbecile is similar to being mad. Go to the link for more. Here’s the final line:

People with no real skin in the game pushing their costs onto others around the world, while showing not even a semblance of strategic thinking. That’s not morality. It’s imbecility.

On foreign policy she wasn’t all that bright

This is where this article is heading stated near the beginning.

If women were in charge, the old canard goes, then peace would break out all over the earth. Is that actually true? Madeleine Albright is a good case study to test out this hypothesis.

Unfortunately, Madeleine Albright’s long career represents all the failures and mistakes that, in just thirty years, have taken America from its superpower apex to the brink of imperial collapse.

Here’s where you can read the entire article: Oh You Think Women Don’t Start Wars? Ask Madeleine Albright (RIP).

And in case you don’t make it to the end, let me highlight this.

Madeleine Albright was a central figure in this toxic evolution of NATO from preventer to cause of international war. In 1997, she delivered testimony before Congress aggressively supporting the addition of former Warsaw Pact nations to NATO, on the ridiculous grounds that expanding NATO would not antagonize Russia (which was loudly protesting at the time)….

It is hard to imagine anyone else other than Madeleine Albright who perfectly encapsulated the combination of arrogance and delusion that drove America to create an avoidable catastrophe in Eastern Europe. Albright ridiculously claimed that expanding an anti-Russia alliance is needed to “build a constructive partnership” with Russia. She claimed the alliance is not anti-Russia, yet treats its concerns as entirely unworthy of any discussion. She even treated agreements to limit the deployment of nuclear weapons as entirely non-negotiable. Russia can complain all it wants, she said, before gloating that there is nothing the country can do to block NATO’s enlargement entirely on America’s terms.

And so, here we are today. She may be dead but the consequences of her decisions live on and will continue to live on.
