Pierre Poilievre to run for leader of the Canadian Conservatives

After the collapse of support for Erin O’Toole, and his removal from leadership, Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre announced Saturday he will be running for the Conservative Party’s leadership.

I know only this, but what I see so far I like a lot.

And this is the interim leader who I also like quite a lot.

Our media is as pro-lockdown, pro-mandate as Justin Trudeau

So Southern Ontario with its flat featureless terrain. But all these years later, it is still as familiar as home. Meanwhile, there has still be no mention of any of this in the local press, so far as I can see. Our own media is as pro-lockdown, pro-mandate as Justin Trudeau.

And then there is this, which is the advice and support offered by Jordan Peterson. He may be the only person in Canada around my own age that I am aware of who completely supports the truckers, their aims and their tactical skills.

Both have been picked up from our sister site in Canada: Small Dead Animals. Along with Rebel News it’s where the news can be found. Our papers sold out ages ago, as has most of the Canadian press as well.

There are few ways to discuss the convoy without asking why we are still shutting our own economy down

The least-covered news story of the past week is the truck convoy that has converged on Ottawa. If you had any doubt before now that our media are as corrupt as the media in America, this ought to cure you of any thoughts that you can get all the news from our papers. It really is shameful, but the reality is that there are few ways to discuss the convoy without raising the question why we are still shutting our own economies down, with very little reason to expect any change any time soon, or for any explanation of why all this continues to go on. Which is why we hear nothing whatsoever about any of it.

A very insightful story about the convoy is told by a local resident who thought he might go out among the truckers and chat to see what they are up to and who they actually are: A night with the untouchables. Lots to read but let me give you this and you can read the rest yourself.

As I finally made my way back home, after talking to dozens of truckers into the night, I realized I met someone from every province except PEI. They all have a deep love for this country. They believe in it. They believe in Canadians. These are the people that Canada relies on to build its infrastructure, deliver its goods, and fill the ranks of its military in times of war. The overwhelming concern they have is that the vaccine mandates are creating an untouchable class of Canadians. They didn’t make high-falutin arguments from Plato’s Republic, Locke’s treatises, or Bagehot’s interpretation of Westminster parliamentary systems. Instead, they see their government willing to push a class of people outside the boundaries of society, deny them a livelihood, and deny them full membership in the most welcoming country in the world; and they said enough. Last night I learned my new neighbours are not a monstrous faceless occupying mob. They are our moral conscience reminding us – with every blow of their horns – what we should have never forgotten: We are not a country that makes an untouchable class out of our citizens.

And let me add that if they were the kinds of people  who “make high-falutin arguments from Plato’s Republic, Locke’s treatises, or Bagehot’s interpretation of Westminster parliamentary systems” they would be as empty of anything worth listening to as the kinds of people who have brought us into the mess we are in who cannot find a way out.

There is also this, the first statement in the Canadian Parliament of Candice Bergen who is the interim leader of the Conservative Party until a leader is chosen later on this year.

Woke white women over 50

This is the only time during this entire pandemic that I have come across someone noting that gender differences may have [almost certainly have] made a difference in how the reaction to covid has been dealt with in constituencies where women have the vote.

It has not been lost on me that the truckers in Canada are part of a profession in which 99% of its members are males who take a very different attitude to risk than do most women.

Keep on truckin’

I received an email from an old friend in Canada who wrote about the trucking protests. You will see why I had to leave the country since every one of my old mates thinks the same way.

The problem with the truckers is not so much as they are anti-vaxx but that a whole group has grown up around them: from right wing to Nazis to who-ever…they danced on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, parked on the  grounds around the War Memorial and desecrated the Terry Fox Statute.  90% of all truckers have been vaccinated which means these are not you  typical  “freedom fighters” but a very small vocal minority. They also close the Alberta/Montana border yesterday. There is very little sympathy for them now.

They also got some $9,000,000.00 and god alone knows from where and who will get to spend it. I expect that they will be allowed to stay for about 8-10 days then they will be removed. Except for our soon to be ex leader of the Opposition – O’Toole, no other political leader has addressed them.

We are still nice…no riot…but it will  get dirty soon enough…federal politics  seems to be moving into a far right Conservative Party that cannot be elected. The Conservative Party has a vocal base  but that base has little to “sell” the middle/majority of voters…their leader recall is not helping them….more Trudeau into the immediate future…perhaps you can sponsor me if I decide to move to Australia.

Every one of these statements is a media distortion that even all this way away, I have seen where these lies have arisen from and what the truth actually is. Whenever I am home in The Dominion, I never ever talk politics with anyone. What, never? Well, hardly ever. But it is pointless. Still the truckers are redeeming my Canadian identity, bless them. Free speech is your only protection from a tyrannical government

Let me come back to my articles on conservatism that was published in Quadrant at the end of last year. Here’s the conclusion at the end of the second article, Conservative Thought in the Time of Covid (Part II):

These are the elements of conservatism as it needs to be understood if we are to defend ourselves against the rising socialist beliefs that are its major political alternative.

  1. An individual’s right to be left alone to live one’s own life as one pleases with no interference from government unless to prevent harm to others.
  2. Absolute right to free speech—anyone can say or write anything about anything they like at any time as part of a public discussion.
  3. Market economy—economic outcomes should be almost entirely based on individual personal decisions to produce. The government’s role in the creation of wealth is minimal.
  4. Adherence to a legal and moral tradition with historic roots based on individual rights and freely determined religious beliefs so long as those beliefs are not imposed on others.

The first of these issues gives the government a pass to impose restrictions during a pandemic, since the aim is to prevent harm to others, but the second is the only safety valve – the absolute right to free speech. Lose that, and you have lost the lot. Which brings me to this email I have just received. This is a quote from someone who sends out a number of emails on Covid who tries to suggest that it may not be the greatest catastrophe in medical history.

Bigpond ISP has black listed and banned me. Bigpond are referring to “sender score (dot) org” who initially gave me a low score and now have me blacklisted. Sender score are eves dropping in on all private emails looking for political content and particularly related to the virus and it’s jab. If they don’t like what you are saying they give you a low score. I don’t know what other ISPs are using this mob. I have sent a letter of complaint to the Communications Minister and demanded he do something. As far as I am concerned, what they are doing is illegal. Bigpond are now censoring your private emails.

Came with this example:

Free speech is your only protection from a tyrannical government.

This was Part 1: Conservative Thought in the Time of Covid.

PICKED UP LAST NIGHT: We have little idea what is being done behind the scenes to manipulate the information flow. We might get only the occasional glimpse but here is another look at the possibilities in place: The Gateway Pundit Files Official Complaint Against T-Mobile with Missouri Attorney General – Requests Investigation of Mobile Carrier for Blocking and Erasing Text Messages with GP Articles and Links.

In early January we learned the tech giants are using a frightening new method to censor and control what you are able to see, read and discuss online. T-Mobile was disappearing our links. You could not send our links through T-mobile. They would disappear them. Your friends would not even know that you sent them a Gateway Pundit article.

Dozens of our readers sent us proof that this was happening.

The terror tactics being used by almost every government across the world to make fighting off Covid the most important issue which has led to astonishing restrictions in our freedoms and a massive loss of personal wealth, especially amongst the lower ranks of the community can only be resisted if there is access to information flows that contradict the official versions of events.

Freedom of speech, so that anyone – including Whoopi Goldberg – can say what they believe in public is our only form of protection at this stage.

The True North Strong and Free

Seldom think of the old Dominion as the centre of international revolutionary action, but there you are.

This is amazing, from Gone, Baby, Gone?, which is about the Canadian Prime Minister running away in the face of the truckers’ convention on the streets of Ottawa.

Not even bilingual: “officiel du gouvernement”. And where has that cowardly nitwit gone?

A Canadian thing and from coast to coast.
