Is this cynicism or just the way it is?

MATTHEW CONTINETTI: Only American Ground Troops Can Defeat ISIS.

Yeah, but that’s not Obama’s plan. His plan is to look like he’s kinda doing something until November, then let ISIS win.

Or perhaps we could go to one of the comments at Instapundit for some amplification of the same point:

Lets just pretend for a moment that America had elected to the presidency, a closet Muslim who wanted to enable the establishment of a caliphate across the middle east and north africa. How would such a President act, that is different from how this President acts?

Good question. What’s the answer?

Obama Ebola, Ebola Obama – let’s call the whole thing off

That Obama cares not a whit about the welfare of the United States was discussed in a previosu post. Which brings me to the headlines on Drudge this morning:

Now it’s here and we shall see what we shall see. No reassurances from any public official can be taken at face value, I’m afraid.

Who you gonna believe, me or your lying eyes?

The American economy is dead, dead, dead. That’s the reality. But then there is the politics. This is what the president says: Obama Claims His Economy Is A Success. And you know what? It’s hard to fault the politics even for a second. He is ruining the US and it is clear to anyone with the slightest awareness, even those media jerks who will never abandon their man. They all know, but they won’t say. So Obama just gives them copy and a story to run. The rest of us can say he is a liar but he has had six years’ experience walking all over every criticism which he knows he will never be called out on. Incredible to see, but the world always has been a mysterious place. This is the new politics:

President Barack Obama claimed Thursday that “the facts” demonstrate that his economic policies are safely guiding the nation’s towards middle-class prosperity.

“Those are the facts,” he said. “It’s not conjecture, it’s not opinion… I laid out facts,” he told his audience of upper-income progressives at Northwestern University in Illinois Oct. 2.

Obama’s pitch to the progressives combined a mix of flattery, selective data and visceral campaign pitches, including promises of cheap loans for his student audience, more power for would-be regulators and greater wages for women.

“If we make sure a woman is paid equal to her efforts, it won’t just give women a boost; it’ll give their families and the entire economy a boost… Let’s catch up to 2014, pass a fair pay law, and make our economy stronger,” he told his audience, which included many university-trained women, who comprise one of the most pro-Democratic voting blocs.

He also suggested that wise government leadership created many private-sector gains, such as the boom in oil-drilling and natural-gas fracking.

Progressive economic “policies are right for America, they are supported by the facts,” he said.

Netanyahu’s speech to the UN

Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the UN on 29 September said what needs to be said. Here’s the central point of what he said in discussing Iran:

It’s one thing to confront militant Islamists on pick-up trucks, armed with Kalashnikov rifles. It’s another thing to confront militant Islamists armed with weapons of mass destruction.

But it’s coming, and it will not just be Israel in the firing line.

Someone says that Obama lied

Of course he lied. What else is new. If they report it in The New York Times, then I would like to know about it. This, however, is from The Daily Caller:

President Barack Obama has taken a lot of flack since his Sunday night “60 Minutes” interview, in which he blamed the intelligence community for his failure to tackle the threat posed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. And that is right and proper. Because not only was his excuse of blaming us a lie, but when questioned on his lie, White House press secretary Josh Earnest doubled down with a whole new lie — both of which are easily, publicly proven false.

On Sunday, Obama said the intelligence community had underestimated the rise of ISIS, saying in an interview with CBS, “Our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that, I think, they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria.”

But we know that isn’t true, as nearly a dozen administration officials have testified to the threat posed by ISIS publicly over the last year.

The fact that the president chose to use the word “they” instead of “we” immediately drew condemnation from friend and foe alike, who saw it as the president’s attempt to pass the buck.

The article is by “a ranking Department of Defense official” who prefers to stay anonymous. But it’s not as if no one knows. Everyone knows, even those who deny it to your face, while the rest prefer Obama lies to conservative truth. So we go on until we are over the falls.

The worst American president ever

obama intelligence cartoon

I guess on this one he can’t blame George Bush so he blames someone else:

President Obama largely blamed the United States’ intelligence community in an interview broadcast Sunday for giving an incorrect assessment of the capabilities of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

“Our head of the intelligence community, Jim Clapper, has acknowledged that, I think, they underestimated what had been taking place in Syria,” Obama said on CBS’s “”60 Minutes.” . . .

Obama’s remarks served as an acknowledgement that the United States in recent years has been largely unaware of the power behind ISIS, which has been characterized as a terrorist group with some qualities of state-backed military forces. . . .

Obama also admitted that the United States overestimated the willingness of allies such as Iraq to join in the fight against ISIS.

Golf and shooting hoops is not the kind of work that will get you plugged into the needs of the moment. It also doesn’t help that he surrounds himself with people who will not criticise what he does. Here’s an article with video that sets things pretty straight about the kinds of associates he has, OBAMA: “Wherever I See Folks, They Always Say… You’re So Great” .

Obama must only be getting his feedback on the golf course as the rest of the country doesn’t think he’s so great these days. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released last week had Obama at a dismal 35% approval rating.

Even the black community’s support is starting to erode. A Zogby poll from earlier this month had Obama’s support among African-Americans declining form 91% to 78%.

I think there may have been a palace coup of sorts by various Democrats since he is no longer in charge the way he once was. From the man who was going to shut down Guantanamo and pulled the troops out of Iraq things have been changing in some very definite ways in the opposite direction.

Another forgotten moment in history

hitler stalin pact

Totalitarians come in so many different forms and the mutation rate is astounding. This is from Daniel Hannan in an article in The Telegraph in London on The greatest cultural victory of the Left has been to disregard the Nazi-Soviet Pact. There are so many cultural victories of this sort that it is hard to know which is the greatest or whether it is the facts they hide of the half truths they distort. Anyway, this is how Daniel begins:

Seventy-five years ago today [September 26], Red Army troops smashed into Poland. Masters of deception and propaganda, they encouraged locals to believe that they were coming to join the battle against Hitler, who had invaded two weeks’ earlier. But, within a day, the true nature of the Nazi-Soviet collaboration was exposed. . . .

It’s this lop-sidedness in our folk memory that we need to address. While Nazism is well understood as the monstrosity it was, there is often a lingering sense that Communism was well-intentioned, even though it went wrong. The merest connection with fascism bars a politician from office; yet those who actively supported the USSR are allowed to become ministers and European Commissioners. Wearing a Che Guevara tee-shirt is not regarded in the same light as wearing an Adolf Hitler tee-shirt; but it should be.

As the first of the comments noted, “It is a leftist myth that fascism and marxism are opposites. In reality they are both extreme leftist totalitarian rivals, while the opposite of both of them is free market libertarian capitalism.” A good deal of politics on the left revolves around my enemy’s enemy is my friend. Until the Soviet Union was attacked in 1941, the left found tooth and nail against the war. The enemy of the left are our free institutions and bourgeois values. That the carriers of the opposition are totalitarian crackpots is merely a detail that can be easily ignored.

Obama girl – then and now

This is astonishing. I saw the second video but didn’t appreciate just how amazing it was until I saw the first. People grow up, they learn from the world and they really can change. First the flash hit of 2008.

Now the same woman, six years later. I hope she is a sign of things to come. Alas, all those twelve year olds of 2008 are now about to vote for the first time, feeding a never ending stream of ignorance and stupidity, just perfect for Democrat politicians to exploit.

The most ignorant man in every room he enters

From The Age, ‘Bigger threat than terrorism’: Barack Obama signals Australia, India and China must improve on climate change:

The US President argued that the problem of climate change had surpassed terrorism as the biggest threat to life on Earth.

“For all the immediate challenges that we gather to address this week – terrorism, instability, inequality, disease – there’s one issue that will define the contours of this century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent and growing threat of a changing climate,” Mr Obama said.

The most ignorant man in every room he enters, not just because he is astonishingly devoid of much if any useful knowledge, but also because of the circles he travels in where everyone has earned their positions because of what they know. The UN is filled with total climate sceptics. Whatever they may say in public, there is not one country in which such beliefs are seriously harboured by almost anyone at the highest levels of political decision making. And it is not just Obama’s beliefs on climate that are so bizarrely empty but on almost every topic of importance today. Obama may be near unique in his ignorance of so much, or more likely, is simply trying to create as much damage to the West as possible with not a personal belief in sight.

And no sooner do I put this post together, but up on Drudge I find this: Obama’s breathtaking naivete at the United Nations.

President Obama on Wednesday delivered a speech at the United Nations filled with his usual soaring rhetoric of global collectivism and the importance of “international norms.” But the president also displayed a shocking naivete about global affairs, religion, Islam — a Pollyannaish interpretation on the state of the world and America’s role in it.

You can read it all but if you don’t know these things already you probably never will.

Only idiots sit out an election

It really is an idiocy to complain about election results when people on the supposed right sat out the last election. This is a list from The Other McCain by Smitty in which he argues The Vichy GOP Thinks Tea Parties Should Just Shut Up & Fall In Line, Or Something. This is the list of issues that might have been dealt with if we had elected those more to the Tea Party right.

ObamaCare is still a river of lies, with no hope of repeal
The IRS is an affront to all things American
Ground truth on Benghazi remains elusive
We have no hope of a reasonable budget
The Federal Reserve is still running amok
The immigration sellout seems a question of when, not if
Border and national security seem a shambles

As these things go, I am as Tea Party in my values as anyone I know, more so in fact. But all of these would have been more than dealt with had Romney won in 2012 and there had been more senators elected with an “R” in brackets after their name however centralist they may have been. Perfection is the enemy of the good, but Romney was more than just good, he was exceptional. We won’t see his like again, particularly someone as near electable as he was.
