The stupidest generation in history that has brought down the Western world, that’s who they are

There is an article posted at Powerline from National Review in 1967 with the title, Who are the Hippies? Having been one amongst them, I know only too well who they are. They are the same people, now all grown up, who have opened up Europe to a barbarian horde that Europeans had been able to keep out for 1500 years. They are the idiot last generation of a Europe of Europeans. Next time you go to Europe, drop by St Sophia in Constantinople Istanbul to see the future of Notre Dame.

As to the article, I was personally more New Left than Hippy but I was both. If anyone has ever repudiated an earlier incarnation of themselves, that person is me. But I have also always thought that if there had to be such a time and place, I was glad to have been part of it, for no other reason than just because. The article – and you must keep in mind that this is from the famously right-wing National Review – compared these people to a second century small Christian sect known as the “Adamites”. This really is how they were portrayed, and this is not intended to show what a dangerous and unworldly crew of dimwits they were, but to criticise them for their misunderstanding of the proper ethos of love. If you don’t believe me, read the article from which these come.

1. A sense of primal innocence, without “knowledge of good and evil.”
2. Antinomianism, rejection, in principle, if not always in practice, of all restrictive law imposed from the “outside.”
3. Hostility to all authority, as in fringing upon their paradisal freedom.
4. Pacifism, since there can be no hurt in Paradise.
5. Sexual freedom, and no sense of shame, like Adam and Eve in Paradise.
6. Community of goods.
7. Free-floating fantasy-thinking: impatience with critical thinking as the product of man’s fall.
8. Emotional self-indulgence: resentment at demands for inner restraint and emotional self-discipline.
9. A comprehensive cult of love, as appropriate to the sinless life in Paradise.

For myself, I was there because I was genuinely unsure how I should lead my life. I was not prepared to embark on a career unless I felt those early steps were in the direction I truly wished to travel. If you were there then, the one thing that was open to all was a marriage, job and family, more or less as a carbon copy of the generation that came before. I now know that there is little else to life, but it looked too easy for those of us there at the time. The result has been that every possible obstacle has been placed in the way of each of these by a society that seems to have a death wish. What looked easy in 1967 now feels difficult beyond imagination.

The world changing right in front of us but virtually none of it will be mentioned in any heated way by our journalist class. This is from Drudge:

It is the first story that is the oddest. It begins:

THE European Union has lost control of its borders and risks total collapse if they are not sealed, a senior Brussels diplomat has warned.

Donald Tusk, president of the European Council, warned the EU was now facing a “critical point” and that the migrant crisis hadn’t even reached its peak.

As he chaired an emergency meeting of EU leaders in Brussels last night Mr Tusk painted a bleak picture of the EU’s future, saying the 28-member bloc was on the verge of breakdown with “recriminations and misunderstanding” pitting nations against one another.

The future of free movement was at stake, he said, as the continent had lost control of its borders as well as a “sense of order”.

He added: “The most urgent question we should ask ourselves…is how to regain control of our external borders.

“Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense to even speak about common migration policy.”

He appeared to lay much of the blame with Germany, accusing Chancellor Angela Merkel of exacerbating the problem by sending the signal to desperate Syrians fleeing their war-torn homeland that Germany had no limit on the number of migrants it would accept.

It’s not “the EU” that is on the point of collapse but European civilisation. The narrowness of the perspective is what gets me, not to mention the madness of Merkel’s policy of open borders. Do they have any idea at all what they are doing?

Two articles on immigration

As everyone knows, open borders leads to a more harmonious happier more contented and prosperous world. Here are two articles published today that you might therefore read to confirm your views on how bizarre those who oppose immigration are. One is from the US by Ann Coulter. The second is from Australia by Peter Baldwin.

First Ann, whose article is titled, Useless Idiots. You’ll have to read the article for yourself to see who she means, but she really does go over the top.

The second is titled, Migrant crisis: Europe must close borders to refugee influx. An obvious hysteric with no credibility. You’ll again have to read the article for yourself to see just how off the planet he is.

AND LET ME JUST ADD THIS: Of course I’m a migrant and so the last thing in the world I would be against is migration. I was, however, amongst that first tranche in 1975 who needed a migrant’s visa to move to Australia from Canada. This entailed an embassy official to come down to Toronto from Ottawa for an hour-long interview to which he brought a professor of economics from the University of Toronto to ensure themselves that I was up to the mark for teaching at the College in Bendigo. This is what I understand about migration. The country decides on who comes and who does not, and they also decide on how many in any given year, and they ensure as best they can that the migrant is likely to become a productive member of the community. However, what I do not accept is people just wandering in as they please where the host country does no sorting and assessing. That I don’t get, which is why I was very keen to ensure that the boats were stopped, as was most of the country. These are not fine distinctions, but the very minimum requirement if we are to remain a nation state in a world of other nation states.

YOU CAN NOW ADD A THIRD ARTICLE TO THE TWO ABOVE: This is from that nitwit Mark Steyn who never quits talking about migration and demographics. This one is called The Emperor’s Moral Narcissism which even comes with a photo showing a crowd of sensible people holding up a sign reading “Refugees Welcome”.

Millions of people heading for Europe with no European language skills, and possibly no marketable skills of any kind, and listen to how the President of Hungary reacts:

Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orbán warned European life and its established laws were under threat from huge numbers of people heading through the continent from war-torn states in the Middle East.

In a defence against criticism of the aggressive stance against refugees taken by the country , he said yesterday: “Our borders are in danger. Our way of life where we respect the law is in danger.

“The whole of Hungary and Europe is in danger.

“The migrants are blitzing us.”

Hungary and Serbia have constantly been at each others’ throats over the issue, with Budapest urging its non-EU neighbours to do more to help tackle the growing neighbours migrants.

It is now sending troops armed with rubber bullets and tear gas to the border with Serbia to protect the country’s frontier.

Pinter Bence, a Hungarian political journalist for the mandiner.hu website said the situation with growing tensions between nations was reminiscent of the international scenario from just over 100 years ago.

Leaders who don’t love the countries they lead are becoming more common. The darkness of this century may yet overwhelm what we experienced in the last one.

This is the kind of story we are being spared by the media precisely so that we do not became terrified by what is going on in Europe. The basic premise of progressive internationalism is that every culture is basically the same and that civilised values are a universal. Maybe, but there are then stories like this one that make you ask what happens if that isn’t true. The title is Germany’s Migrant Rape Epidemic. Here’s part of what it says:

A growing number of women and young girls housed in refugee shelters in Germany are being raped, sexually assaulted and even forced into prostitution by male asylum seekers, according to German social work organizations with first-hand knowledge of the situation. . . .

Conditions for women and girls at some shelters are so perilous that females are being described as “wild game” fighting off Muslim male predators. But many victims, fearing reprisals, are keeping silent, social workers say.

At the same time, growing numbers of German women in towns and cities across the country are being raped by asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Many of the crimes are being downplayed by German authorities and the national media, apparently to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiments.

The question is, if these are the kinds of people who are entering Europe, why wouldn’t you want to fuel anti-immigration sentiments. The answer to this question I do not know, but there is much evidence that the authorities are conniving with the media to keep these stories out of the news. Everyone knows, of course, it’s just not in the news so it is not officially true so no one officially needs to do a single thing. The reality is that the demographic shift in Europe may be the biggest story of our time yet is virtually never mentioned in the press.

Yet this is where some good could actually be done. By branding rapists as the barbarians they are, perhaps some kinds of social pressure could be brought to bear on such practices. By saying nothing in public we are, in effect, condoning behaviours that are disgusting to their very core. We must side up with the women being attacked, and do what we can to protect them from some of the most vile human scum who are found in their midst.

Half of America are gullible fools – while the media clocks in at 95%

A fraud and a hoax. The President could not care less since this is one of his teachable moments. It would be if only people were capable of learning. You and I may know what’s going on but does anyone else? Meanwhile, Ben Carson, running for the Republican nomination, started quite a commotion within the media which is 95% gullible fools.

Carson ignited a media firestorm in a Sunday morning interview with Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” in which he said he “would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation.”

“I absolutely would not agree with that,” Carson said.

In an interview with The Hill, Carson opened up about why he believes a Muslim would be unfit to serve as commander in chief.

“I do not believe Sharia is consistent with the Constitution of this country,” Carson said, referencing the Islamic law derived from the Koran and traditions of Islam. “Muslims feel that their religion is very much a part of your public life and what you do as a public official, and that’s inconsistent with our principles and our Constitution.”

Carson said that the only exception he’d make would be if the Muslim running for office “publicly rejected all the tenets of Sharia and lived a life consistent with that.”



“Then I wouldn’t have any problem,” he said.

However, on several occasions Carson mentioned “Taqiyya,” a practice in the Shia Islam denomination in which a Muslim can mislead nonbelievers about the nature of their faith to avoid religious persecution.

“Taqiyya is a component of Shia that allows, and even encourages you to lie to achieve your goals,” Carson said.

Pushing back at the media firestorm over his remarks, Carson sought to frame himself as one of the few candidates running for president willing to tell hard truths.

“We are a different kind of nation,” Carson said. “Part of why we rose so quickly is because we wouldn’t allow our values or principles to be supplanted because we were going to be politically correct. … Part of the problem today is that we’re so busy trying to be politically correct, that we lose all perspective.”

Carson told The Hill that the question of a Muslim president is largely “irrelevant” because no Muslims are running in 2016. He said the question, which Todd is posing to all of the Republican presidential hopefuls who go on his show, “may well have been” gotcha journalism meant to trip the candidates up.

However, he acknowledged the question “served a useful purpose by providing the opportunity to talk about what Sharia is and what their goals are.

The question really is, why would anyone want to talk about that when there are other more important issues to discuss?

What should Trump have said about Obama’s religious beliefs?

This business about Obama’s religion does go on with plenty of advice with what Donald Trump should have said, and now extending to the entire Republican field who are also being asked to answer what no one can possibly know, what religion does Barack Obama really follow in his heart of hearts. Mark Steyn has his own views which he has filed under the heading, Get Lost, You Palace-Guard Creeps. Naturally you need to read it all where he provides seven different possible answers, all good. This is number six.

As to whether he’s a Christian, have you asked him whether he has attended even semi-regularly any church other than that of Jeremiah (“God damn America”) Wright? A man is free to attend the Westboro Baptist Church but if he chooses to do so I’m not obligated to defend his Christianity. And frankly, whatever the President’s personal faith, there is no dispute that his leadership of the western world has been an utter catastrophe for Christians around the planet. Some of the oldest Christian communities on earth have been entirely extinguished on Obama’s watch: in Mosul, Iraq, which was an American protectorate on the day he took office, not a single Christian remains. Every single one of them is dead or fled. So, instead of jumping through your preposterous hoops and speaking up for the most powerful man in the world, I would rather speak up for the powerless – for the Nigerian schoolgirls, for the Yazidi, for the Copts in Egypt, and for all the other beleaguered Christian communities in the world this feckless president has set alight and watched burn.

When you think about all this, what possible difference does it make what he believes when it is what he has done, or not done, that is what counts.

But what good would it do?

I should at least point out, though, that many of the texts I have put into my characters’ mouths or pens—editorials, speeches, pastoral letters, laws, news stories, statements of every description—are, in fact, authentic. Perhaps the reader will spot them as they go by. In terms of the fictional situation I have presented, they become all the more revealing.

Advice to Trump on what he should say about Obama

This is Steve Hayward’s advice to Donald Trump on what he ought to say to someone who accuses Obama of being a Muslim.

As far as I’m concerned, Obama’s nationality and religious faith are a settled matter. But you can understand why many Americans might think otherwise from his words and deeds in office. He has strengthened our enemies seemingly on purpose, obviously hates Jews and Israel, and really doesn’t appear to like America very much. If we did have a secret Muslim in the Oval Office, it would be hard to tell the difference from the actual Obama record. Instead of demanding my apology, the Democratic Party ought to apologize for foisting this plainly defective president on our once-great country.

You can see what Hayward thinks but knows he cannot say.

UPDATE: Then there’s this ridiculous article attacking Trump for being somehow opposed to small government and Republican principles. Here is a reply in the comments that says pretty well what I think myself:

What the author, GOP Inc and the DC Establishment fail to grasp is 25 years of saying one thing and doing the opposite tends to make people question things. How could Trump be worse than the supposed leaders of the leaders of the GOP ?They campaign on limited government, and then go to Washington and give away the store. And the most obvious example is the DC GOP wants desperately to give away the store again with amnesty to make the Chamber of Commerce donor class happy at the expense of middle and working class Americans. We’re supposed to be upset because Trump isn’t conservative enough, but the likes of Jeb and Grahamnesty are “true conservatives”? Without fixing immigration, none of it matters. And the idiots running the GOP do not grasp that. Trump, if nothing else, does. And without him no one else is even talking about immigration.

Trump is the only one anywhere talking about America as a nation state while the rest are interested only in one form or another of open borders. If they really are unaware of what is going on across the world, where our way of life is being submerged by migrants who know nothing of the principles of a free society and personal responsibility, then there should be no surprise when some of us will make one last effort to preserve for the next generations what we were able to enjoy ourselves.

But he adds this, which is the Republican elite response of the moment to the challenge posed by Donald Trump:

On second thought, such complex ideological talk is obviously not Trump’s style. But there is someone running for the presidency with the intellectual chops, guts and speaking clarity to explain something like this to the public — Carly.

Fine and dandy, but what does she think about immigration, which is the real issue, not Obama’s religious beliefs which no one will ever know while he is still president.

So, America, is Barack Obama a Christian or a Muslim? Wrong question, destined to lead to an insufficient answer. I suspect that we are presided over by a modern Marxist agnostic, holding our own historical foundations and culture in contempt, while he is sympathetic with and ready to enfold the culture of people who have sworn to slaughter us. I suspect he has no desire to make us Islamic, and that President Obama is more opportunistically taking advantage of Muslim upheaval to work anarchy and chaos against the America he wants to change. Because American government is indeed founded on the Judeo-Christian principles I stated above, he exhibits the same simmering hostility to Christianity that we see generally among the “progressive” American Left.
