Facing reality

Across the whole of the Drudge Report right now the name Donald Trump does not appear a single time. But we do get this:

FACEBOOK Deletes ‘Stop Islamization Of America’ Page After Orlando Attack…
REDDIT Bans Users, Deletes ‘Muslim’ Comments…

You now understand your future. Deal with it.

UPDATE: On Lizzie B’s advice I went and read through the comments on The Australian story, Florida shooting: Donald Trump sparks outrage with Tweets. The comments are exactly right, genuinely outraged by the idiocy of the story, but the story is the story, and the one that will keep getting repeated by everyone. Think of The Oz as the Republican Party and ourselves as the kind of people who vote for Trump and you will see the problem which is one I can barely see a solution for.

The open society and its enemies

Kansas City Star Editorial Writer Yael T. Abouhalkah: “Dear God: Today I am so sickened by the evilness of the NRA and gun industry. May their leaders be plunged into ever-lasting hell. Amen.”

Jeffrey Goldberg: “Obama cautious on motive of shooter because caution is required until the investigation advances.”

The rest of the links above can be opened at Instapundit if you really need to read them. Plus there’s this: Trump takes credit for ‘being right on radical Islamic terrorism’. They make it sound like he’s at fault:

Donald Trump wasted little time seeking political advantage in the massacre at a Florida nightclub, taking credit for “being right on radical Islamic terrorism” in the wake of the worst mass shooting in American history.

The suspect in the attack, identified by authorities as a U.S. citizen of Afghan descent named Omar Saddiqui Mateen, killed 50 people and injured another 53 during a rampage through a gay dance club in Orlando. He died in a gunfight with SWAT officers after initially firing shots into the club and later taking hostages.

“Appreciate the congrats for being right on radical Islamic terrorism, I don’t want congrats, I want toughness & vigilance. We must be smart!” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee tweeted.

Trump followed up that tweet with a statement expressing “My deepest sympathy and support goes out to the victims, the wounded, and their families.”

But he also attacked President Barack Obama, whom he said “disgracefully refused to even say the words ‘Radical Islam'” during his comments on Sunday afternoon. “For that reason alone, he should step down.

Australia’s bravest man is a cartoonist

leak hurt feelings

This is an article about Bill Leak, the cartoonist from The Australian: New conservatism of Western progressives is killing humour. Not only is he brave, but his common sense and the values displayed from a disappearing civilisation are remarkable. A sample, but it is worth reading the lot. Unexampled.

The trick has always been to look at a serious issue, exaggerate it to the point of absurdity and draw what you see when you get there. But the trick doesn’t work in these strange times when the more ridiculous an issue is, the more seriously it’s taken. And if you’re starting at the point of absurdity, where do you go from there? What’s the point in pointing out the absurdity inherent in something that’s obviously absurd and, more important, why isn’t everyone already laughing?

And when you do read it and see what an anodyne example I have plucked from the article, you will see that I am nowhere near Australia’s bravest. You will also see the evidence for why he is.

The political calculus of creating poverty-stricken dependent slaves

Turn ’em into poverty-stricken dependent slaves and you will get their votes forever. Or what is known apparently as “The Curley Effect”. Apparently, Obama is a past master.

The Curley effect (named after its prototype, James Michael Curley, a four-time mayor of Boston in the first half of the 20th century) is a political strategy of “increasing the relative size of one’s political base through distortionary, wealth-reducing policies.” Translation: A politician or a political party can achieve long-term dominance by tipping the balance of votes in their direction through the implementation of policies that strangle and stifle economic growth. Counterintuitively, making a city poorer leads to political success for the engineers of that impoverishment.

It may only have been discovered by accident, but you do have to think this may well explain many things that are otherwise not all that clear. But it also requires a population that are happy to become poverty-stricken dependent slaves which does in many ways explain a good deal of otherwise inexplicable parts of policy, like the mass migration of millions of unskilled non-workers that is now found supported by every party of the left.

The migrant invasion of Europe

WATCH: The Anti-Migrant Video Going Viral Across Europe. From the text:

‘With Open Gates: The forced collective suicide of European nations’, a slick, hard-hitting film about the European migrant crisis is going viral in Europe, already watched at least half a million times.

Although the 19-minute film may feel like a dispatch from the future, it is cut entirely from recent news reports, police camera footage, and interviews. Kicking off with scenes of a modern car ferry disgorging thousands of illegals into Greece, the film then cuts to dozens of aerial shots of columns of migrants marching north into Europe.

The film then changed to the harrowing testimony of one young Greek woman who was unable to hide her horror and despair at the scale of the migrant crisis sweeping over her home island of Lesbos. Just six miles from the Turkish coast, the island was subjected to migrant riots in September as newcomers turned on their hosts for not moving them to mainland Europe fast enough.

As Breitbart London reported at the time, the tearful woman tells a news crew: “We are in danger, every day, every minute. We need someone to protect us. They come into our houses. I want to go to work, but I can’t. Our children want to go to school, but they can’t. They have stolen our lives!”.

European leaders, and particularly Merkel, have been raised singing The Internationale, and for whom open borders is part of their Marxist ethos. You cannot imagine Europe ever returning to how it was.

The elites do not even notice what the working class sees at every turn

This is Victor Davis Hanson explaining why there are people who favour Trump for President (including him): Class, Trump, and the Election.

Donald Trump seems to have offended almost every possible identity group. But the New York billionaire still also seems to appeal to the working classes (in part no doubt precisely because he has offended so many special-interest factions; in part because he was seen in the primaries as an outsider using his own money; in part because he seems a crude man of action who dislikes most of those of whom Middle America is tired). At this point, his best hope in November, to the extent such a hope exists, rests on turning 2016 into a referendum on class and a collective national interest that transcends race and gender — and on emphasizing the sad fact that America works now mostly for an elite, best epitomized by Clinton, Inc.

That’s how it starts. Read the rest.

It is not enough to just say “what a jerk” and then move on

Sure it’s funny in a pathetic kind of way. Sure the president of the United States has been elected because he can read a teleprompter while having black skin. Sure we know he pretended to have written two books when we know the first one was written by the communist Bill Ayres and the second was just a gaggle of campaign rhetoric written by no one in particular. The only people who will find the video truly funny are our enemies, the enemies of the United States, the enlightenment and Western civilisation. They laugh at us because so many across the US are simpletons and fools, and their president is all the proof they need.

The real issue is not how funny the video is but what can be done about what it reveals? It is essential to recognise that it is the media, our universities and that proportion of our own societies who are members of the far left that need to be countered with some kind of strategy. Donald Trump has begun what must not become merely his own theme, with no one else entering these wars on his side. Our enemies must be called out. Those who support Obama must be themselves made to share in the shame in having been taken in by such a transparent charlatan. The institutions that have given a pass to the infantile fantasies of the left must be ridiculed and deprived of funds. There is a great deal that needs to be done, but who will do it?

Battle of Jutland

Since we are memorialising World War I, I thought I would mention that May 31 was the hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Jutland. What the absence of any mention anywhere that I saw meant to me was that everything we worry about now will be as close to forgotten as it is possible to be in a century’s time. None of it will be irrelevant, just forgotten.

What is literally never in the news

The video is from a Roger Simon post titled, Trump States the Obvious about the Press, that they select what to include and what to leave out. Bias is inevitable, but the dangers come when you can see what is left out. The video above ought to be news but nowhere is. This is the text that comes with the video:

Muslim savages turn Paris into war zone, again. France. May 31, 2016. Just another day in your neighborhood with your Muslim sub-animal neighbors. As usual, there is a complete media blackout about the events from the despicably dishonest, corrupted, traitorous, Sharia compliant mainstream media, while the equally corrupted, traitorous, Sharia compliant government officials (Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, François Hollande, President of France, and their counterparts David Cameron from U.K., Angela Merkel from Germany, etc.) continue flapping their oral sphincter and diarrhea of the mouth about Islamofauxbia and denying the existence of Islamic “no-go zones” or (called “zones urbaines sensibles” in French, http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/world…) while in reality, there are now 751 of those, and counting, keeping the true citizens in the dark until the very last minutes their heads are on the chopping blocks while the corrupted traitors themselves prepared for their own sound exits with stuffed coffers of bribed petrodollars from the Islamofascists Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, Yemen, etc., just like the 9-11 terrorists’ taqiyya telling airline passengers that they would be ok and alive as long as they conform to the terrorists’ orders (we all know how that ended), or like ISIS’s taqiyya telling the victims in orange jumpsuits that they would be alive, so that they would appear calm on camera until the minutes their heads are sawed off. The same traitors dhimmis morons (David Cameron) engages in endless, meaningless debates condemning truth sayers like Donald Trump, Geert Wilders and blocking their entries into U.K while their countries are being overrun by Muslim sub-animals flying ISIS flags, with cities after cities falling into Muzzy hands (London-istan now with Muslim terrorist as mayor). There would likely be bloodbath and civil wars, if the non-Muslim citizens refuse to pay jizya (Islamic tax that imposed on non-Muslims for the right to live under Sharia compliant Muslim society) and want to live. Whether that would happen now when the population of Muslim sub-animals in most Western societies are still in single digit, or later when it becomes much greater, the choice is clear. “Je suis Charlie”, “Je suis Paris”, “Je suis Brussels”, “Je suis London”, “Je suis Madrid”, soon to be “Je suis Berlin”, “Je suis Washington D.C.”, etc. while the bought out, corrupted dhimmis announced climate control as the most serious national security threats. Vote Trump.

The question he is asking is why does only Trump ask the media not just to report the news honestly but to actually report what is going on. The same point is made by Andrew Klavan:

Many of the Republican candidates defeated by Donald Trump — and Ted Cruz, who is fighting a last-ditch battle against him — have complained that the news media created the Trump candidacy with (Cruz’s words) “hundreds of millions of dollars of free advertising.” That seems to me half true. The news media did give the odious Donald a boost, but they did it by spewing such a ceaseless fume of left-wing lies that Trump’s simplistic nonsense, by comparison, sounds like “telling it like it is.”

The charge that the news media is biased toward Democrats is an old one, but only because the truth of it is so ludicrously apparent. When the chief anchor of ABC News is a former Clinton operative, when the best investigative reporter at CBS News had to quit because the network wouldn’t run her stories about Obama’s malfeasance, when the former anchor at NBC News actually bowed to Obama like a courtier to a king, Andrew Breitbart’s accusation that we’re dealing with a “Democrat-Media Complex” seems much too polite.

To some extent, the ideological corruption of our press is an outgrowth of the shattered American political consensus. As our politics has become more European and extreme, so our media has become more European and partisan. It is a shame, however, that news outlets should skew so entirely to one side, that fifty percent of the country should find itself insulted, coerced and lied to on a daily basis.

Why criticise Trump for this is beyond me. As the data on Confidence in Institutions shows, newspapers are near the bottom of the list and TV news is even lower.
