Jonathan Gruber once again: “It’s a very clever basic exploitation of the lack of economic understanding of the American voter”

He is such a grub, but a perfect miniature of the kind of people who represent the left in politics. Dishonest, smug and elitist. Just leave everything to the experts and the less we hear from you the better things will go. Yet his description almost perfectly fits my own belief about the typical voter for parties of the left who, just as he says, can be exploited because of their lack of economic understanding, and indeed because of their lack of understanding of much else besides. The quote comes at 3:29 in the clip. I wonder how clever he thinks of himself right now. We pulled it over on you rubes, didn’t we?

You want to see lying in politics, I’ll show you lying in politics

Let me come back to this business about political lying. This is from Rush Limbaugh discussing how the Media Knew the Truth About Obamacare:

Do you think that Obama would have been reelected in 2012, do you think Obamacare would have passed if the news had gotten out to everybody that your employer could legally cancel your insurance, drop you from your plan, and force you to go to the government? Do you keep that bill would have passed? There is no way.

Because what was happening while all this was going on? Obama was lying for three years. “You like your doctor? You get to keep your doctor! You like your plan? You get to keep your plan!” All along, the law said that businesses, starting in 2014, could dump their employee-covered health plans over to Obamacare or to the exchanges, whatever they called them. So people believed the president, and the president lied. . . .

The same news organizations lied when the individual plans were being canceled. I mean, the individual plans were gonna be canceled all along. Remember, everybody thought, “No, no. I can keep my plan. I can keep my doctor. Obama said so!” Everybody knew that that wasn’t true when he was saying it!

But still they love their President, at least the media do, specially the media. To hear the media discuss political lying is beyond irritation since they are the worst offenders.

Taken for fools

It’s not that they are asking the tough questions but if you mention Obamacare to Obama you are immediately into massive incompetence and dishonesty. They don’t want to push him on it, as this NBC interview shows, but once you say a thing there is no alternative but the mud will stick deep and fast.

Obama never apologises for what he did – admits no fault – but here is the closest approximation you might ever find. There’s an extended video at this link.

“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” he told NBC News in an exclusive interview at the White House.

“We’ve got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this.”

“This” not “me”. Mr Narcissism himself cannot find it within him to say that he is at fault for anything. Mere innocent bystander undermined by those people who work over there in the White House. But the lying doesn’t stop. From the same story:

After the initial NBC News report, the administration insisted that the president did not mislead Americans, arguing that the law could not have accounted for insurers altering existing plans after passage of the law.

How depraved can you get! The level of disgust amongst people who didn’t vote for him and are now losing their insurance may even be less than for the people who are losing their insurance and did vote for him. Not only has their health care been undermined, but they have been taken for fools, which is what they are.
