“It’s called leadership”

Does he believe it himself? Does anyone he talks to believe it? Yet you may be sure this has been focus-grouped to death and came out with a strong positive result so someone must at least say their vote will depend on it: No net cost for renewable plan: Labor.

Bill Shorten insists a plan to force commonwealth agencies to run on 50 per cent renewable energy will have no net cost.

But the opposition leader won’t say if the policy has been costed, relying on a government-commissioned report that found renewable energy puts downward pressure on power prices.

He’s also banking on technology getting cheaper before 2030.

“There’ll be no net cost,” Mr Shorten told reporters in Sydney on Thursday.

“I know if you want an economic plan you’ve got to have a plan for climate change.”

Mr Shorten repeatedly side-stepped questions on whether Labor had costed the plan to sign 10 to 15 year power purchase agreements with energy companies to buy renewables.

“It’s called leadership,” he said [to all the other lemmings].

Spinning make-believe about the facts

I still find this the single most important story of the Obama years and what I find ultra remarkable is how little controversy it has led to. But it’s not for want of trying. If you go to the link, you will see the thirty-six individual sets of commentaries that I have come across since the original interview with Ben Rhodes was published. In Australia, so far I have come across not a single comment except for the ones I have written myself. To which I now add another, published at Quadrant Online. I won’t even quote myself, but one of the people I discuss in the article. If you don’t find this terrifying about our collective futures and the defence of the West, I don’t know what would.

In the New York Times Sunday Magazine, David Samuels details how Ben Rhodes, a script writer, author of the Beloit Journal fiction piece titled “The Goldfish Smiles, You Smile Back,” and brother of CBS president David Rhodes, a man with zero foreign policy experience, shaped and promoted the president’s foreign policy narratives.

Samuels observes: “His lack of conventional real-world experience of the kind that normally precedes responsibility for the fate of nations — like military or diplomatic service, or even a master’s degree in international relations, rather than creative writing — is still startling.” (In this respect, of course, he matches the president’s foreign policy background: None.)

The article details how these two shaped and spun make-believe about the facts and their policies and with the aid of a supine press and a number of think tanks and social media outlets helped propagate the false narratives these two wove out of their fantasies.

It may be recalled that Jonathan Gruber did the same in relation to the changes made to the American health care system, as discussed here: Obamacare Architect: Yeah, We Lied to The “Stupid” American People to Get It Passed. And I have watched an economic policy as badly constructed as has ever been inflicted on an ignorant population. Which leads me to my own conclusion in the Quadrant article:

If Obama can permit Iran to build nuclear weapons in plain sight without bringing the world down on his head, what is it you think he cannot do by using the same techniques across every other area of government policy?

You know that if any of this were done by a Republican, the explosions would be loud and never ending which is why such actions are almost never done by parties of the right. The consequence of a supine media is an American health care system in a shambles, the economy in permanent stagnation and the Middle East in chaos, with an Iranian nuclear capability now just a matter of time.

UPDATE: There are some who understand the evil that these clowns have caused, and no people are more concerned than the Israelis. It is Obama’s fundamental anti-semitism, disguised as anti-Zionism, that has driven his policy. Which brings us to the latest development: ISRAELI LEADER: IRAN MOCKS WWII HOLOCAUST, PREPARES ANOTHER. This is the altered face of the Middle East Obama has created. Such hollow lies when this outcome has been Obama’s almost certain policy intent.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out at Iran Sunday for staging a Holocaust-themed cartoon contest that mocked the Nazi genocide of 6 million Jews during World War II and said the Islamic Republic was busy planning for another one. . . .

State Department spokesman Mark Toner, traveling with Secretary of State John Kerry in Saudi Arabia, said the United States was concerned the contest could “be used as a platform for Holocaust denial and revisionism and egregiously anti-Semitic speech, as it has in the past.”

“Such offensive speech should be condemned by the authorities and civil society leaders rather than encouraged. We denounce any Holocaust denial and trivialization as inflammatory and abhorrent. It is insulting to the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust,” Toner said.

It is disgusting that the State Department merely sees this about denying historical events no one doubts occurred. It is not words and opinion that matter here, but the future battle lines in the Middle East. With the media comprised of compliant idiots, you will find no truth about anything of significance by reading the American press. Facilitating another Holocaust has been Obama’s aim from the start. Since we know they never tell the truth, their words mean nothing. It is the reality on the ground that matters, which absolutely everyone in the Middle East perfectly well understands. No one who wished to forestall an Iranian attack on Israel could have acted in the way Obama has done.

The Great Dictator returns

Charlie Chaplin’s grand-daughter is alive and attacking Merkel. This is The Great Dictator brought back to life:

Jan Böhmermann faces up to five years in prison for insulting a foreign head of state, after Mrs Merkel gave permission for him to be prosecuted under Germany’s controversial lese-majeste law.

Before I say anything, I better check whether it would be legal to say something uncomplementary about the German head of state. This is not, however, a laughing matter, but our reality right now.

Ignorance, malice and an unbelievable innocence in the midst of wolves

First read this: Europe’s Muslims hate the West and then read this: An Up-close Look at the Liberal-Muslim Alliance.

We no longer know history, not our own and certainly no one else’s. Our ignorance and the malice of our elites will do us in, and there is little chance of recovery in Europe from here. So far as Europe goes, it is a lost continent, like the Titanic at the moment it hit the iceberg. It hadn’t sunk yet but its fate was from then on inevitable.

The hand of God

And it’s not just the hand: Scientific paper which says the human hand was designed by a ‘Creator’ sparks controversy:

It says human hand coordination “should indicate the mystery of the Creator’s invention,” and concludes by again claiming the mechanical architecture of the hand is the result of “proper design by the Creator.”

The evidence of design is all around us. But if you think it is all just random chance you are welcome to your belief in the multiverse which has got to be the least probable outcome anyone has ever conceived.

For something to be hotter something else must be colder

From Ace of Spades, Are the Global Warmistas Simply Juicing Up the Latest Years’ Temperatures With “Adjustments” While Reducing the Temperatures of Previous Years, To Always Make the Current Year “The Hottest”?

Sure seems that way — and people have noticed this tendency in their ever-changing adjustments to the temperature record.

But now they may have gone too far — in order to declare 2015 the “hottest on record,” they apparently had to revise and “adjust” the previously declared all-time “hottest on record,” 1997.

Because 1997 was more than three and half degrees warmer than 2015 — going by NOAA’s published data.

If they’ve now adjusted 1997’s temperature down by three and a half degrees or more — thus making the former All Time Hottest Year On Record not particularly hot — this should be the lead, no?

And this would then reveal a lot of about their practices, where the “adjustments” made to the numbers change so much depending on current political messaging needs, and where all the warming comes from the “adjustments,” and not the actual temperature records themselves.

Gone too far? Not a chance. Them’s that want to believe are grateful for one more lie to keep them from facing their non-preferred reality.

Millennials even more clueless than the boomers!

Cannot say this surprises me since it is the Millennials who are most comprehensively shafted by our current political and economic structures: Survey: Millennials around the world worry most about economic inequality. They would like to get a piece of the action, and I don’t blame them. But they are hopelessly badly served by their own attitudes.

Millennials around the world worry most about social and economic equality, remain skeptical of government and the media, and count Tesla CEO Elon Musk as one their heroes, according to a World Economic Forum survey released Sunday.

More than 1,000 young people, ages 20 to 30, from 125 countries and who are all active in the forum’s Global Shapers Community, were canvassed for the survey. The average age was 28. The results were released at the beginning of a three-day World Economic Forum conference in Abu Dhabi, capital of the United Arab Emirates.

The survey showed that 65% of the Millennials said one of their top three goals in selecting a job was to make a difference in society, their city or country. They also look for an opportunity to learn, followed by career advancement. More than nine out of 10 said they would be willing to relocate to advance their career.

The annual survey “reveals that Millennials care about society in their reflections and also in their own career and economic choices,” said Yemi Babington-Ashaye, head of the Global Shapers Community.

Asked about the top three issues facing the world today, 56% named social and economic inequality, 42% included climate change and environmental preservation, and 33% identified education. Half said their national government was neither fair nor honest. And 46% had the same view about the media, while 35% said they distrusted religious leaders and armed forces, the survey showed.

The most admired figure among the Millennials was the late Nelson Mandela, followed by Pope Francis. Musk, 44, the billionaire inventor, engineer and creator of SpaceX, was third, followed by Mahatma Gandhi, Bill Gates and President Obama.

How did Bill Gates slip in among all of the other no-hopers and grifters. Gates actually created something out of nothing. The rest are charlatans of one kind or another, with Musk, on the receiving end of $4 billion of government money a ridiculous choice. That Obama forms any part of their conception of what is to be admired only means they are a generation heading for an even worse disaster than we boomers have created.

Putin and American foreign policy

Who is the enemy? Damned if I any longer know. This is from Mike Whitney, described as ” a contributor to “Hopeless: Barack Obama and the Politics of Illusion“. The title: Putin Forces Obama to Capitulate on Syria:

The Russian-led military coalition is badly beating Washington’s proxies in Syria which is why John Kerry is calling for a “Time Out”.

On Monday, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry called for an emergency summit later in the week so that leaders from Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Jordan could discuss ways to avoid the “total destruction” of Syria. According to Kerry, “Everybody, including the Russians and the Iranians, have said there is no military solution, so we need to make an effort to find a political solution. This is a human catastrophe that now threatens the integrity of a whole group of countries around the region,” Kerry added.

Of course, it was never a “catastrophe” when the terrorists were destroying cities and villages across the country, uprooting half the population and transforming the once-unified and secure nation into an anarchic failed state. It only became a catastrophe when Vladimir Putin synchronized the Russian bombing campaign with allied forces on the ground who started wiping out hundreds of US-backed militants and recapturing critical cities across Western corridor. Now that the Russian airforce is pounding the living daylights out of jihadi ammo dumps, weapons depots and rebel strongholds, and the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is tightening their grip on Aleppo, and Hezbollah is inflicting heavy casualties on Jabhat al Nusra militants and other Al Qaida-linked vermin; Kerry’s decided it’s a catastrophe. Now that the momentum of the war has shifted in favor of Syrian president Bashar al Assad, Kerry wants a “Time out”.

Keep in mind, that Putin worked tirelessly throughout the summer months to try to bring the warring parties together (including Assad’s political opposition) to see if deal could be worked out to stabilize Syria and fight ISIS. But Washington wanted no part of any Russian-led coalition. Having exhausted all the possibilities for resolving the conflict through a broader consensus, Putin decided to get directly involved by committing the Russian airforce to lead the fight against the Sunni extremists and other anti-government forces that have been tearing the country apart and paving the way for Al Qaida-linked forces to take control of the Capital. Putin’s intervention stopped the emergence of a terrorist Caliphate in Damascus. He turned the tide in the four year-long war, and delivered a body-blow to Washington’s malign strategy. Now he’s going to finish the job.

Putin is not gullible enough to fall for Kerry’s stalling tactic. He’s going to kill or capture as many of the terrorists as possible and he’s not going to let Uncle Sam get in the way.

These terrorists–over 2,000 of who are from Chechnya–pose an existential threat to Russia, as does the US plan to use Islamic extremists to advance their foreign policy objectives. Putin takes the threat seriously. He knows that if Washington’s strategy succeeds in Syria, it will be used in Iran and then again in Russia. That’s why he’s decided to dump tons of money and resources into the project. That’s why his Generals have worked out all the details and come up with a rock-solid strategy for annihilating this clatter of juvenile delinquents and for restoring Syria’s sovereign borders. And that’s why he’s not going to be waved-away by the likes of mealy-mouth John Kerry. Putin is going to see this thing through to the bitter end. He’s not going to stop for anyone or anything. Winning in Syria is a matter of national security, Russia’s national security…..

The entire US political establishment supports the removal of Assad and the breaking up of Syria. Kerry’s sudden appeal for dialogue does not represent a fundamental change in the strategy. It’s merely an attempt to buy some time for US-backed mercenaries who are feeling the full-brunt of the Russia’s bombing campaign. Putin would be well-advised to ignore Kerry’s braying and continue to prosecute his war on terror until the job is done.

That bit in bold. I didn’t know that. Is it true? Is that really what they want? Seems perfect for ISIS to me, but what do I know? But given Obama’s approach to Libya, Egypt and Israel, whatever the “US political establishment” wants, I am inclined to take the other side.
