If you don’t know what Cloward-Piven is, you cannot understand what is happening to the United States

Here is an article that says just what I think myself. Most people on the conservative side don’t know enough people on the left, I mean really know them so that you really know what they want. And what they want is the obliteration of the West even if, for them, it is kind of a Kamikaze operation. Read the whole article but this is at the very centre of what he has to say:

At this juncture, one recalls the infamous Cloward-Piven strategy of orchestrated crisis which, as the Discover the Networks website explains, “seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.” Choking the welfare rolls would serve to generate a political and financial meltdown, “break the budget, jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock, and bring the system crashing down.” The fear, turmoil and violence accompanying such a debacle would provide the “perfect conditions for fostering radical change. That was the theory.”

And that, I am almost certain, is the theory that Obama, a master of presidential stealth, is attempting to convert into practice — Cloward-Piven in its exponential form: burgeoning debt, calculated unemployment (i.e., freedom from “job-lock”), exploding entitlements, higher taxes for the employed and rising costs for everyone, a chaotic medical-and-insurance state of affairs, an unreliable currency, industrial stagnation, infringement of privacy concerns, a green energy boondoggle, a billion dollar global warming swindle (based on dodgy computer models and selective disinformation omitting the many salient facts that would discredit the AGW theory), and the continued flouting and undermining of the Constitution.

Accompanying this manufactured crisis is an amnesty scheme envisioning the legitimizing of an estimated eleven million illegal immigrants (aka “undocumented workers” and, now, “aspiring Americans”) who have streamed across porous borders to clog the welfare, housing, labor compensation and social assistance programs, foster the expansion of make-work bureaucracies, and, predictably, vote Democrat. As Donald Trump aptly remarked at the March 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), “We’re either a country or we’re not. We either have borders or we don’t.” Borders, however, are anathema to a president who has further troubled the waters by ceding American legal and political space to foreign bodies like the United Nations.

It is not farfetched to assume that such an ongoing concatenation of events as we have enumerated may well comprise a deliberate project meant to inflame social unrest and bring about a civil crisis that would facilitate the ostensible goal of the Obama administration, namely, the “fundamental transformation” of the republic into a socialist welfare state — or a de facto one-party system. Indeed, the various scandals that have plagued the Obama administration — NSA spying on citizens, IRS targeting of conservative organizations, Fast and Furious gun-running operations, illegal deferring of certain provisions of the Affordable Care Act, the exchange of the dubious Bowe Bergdahl for five battle-hardened Taliban insurgents without consulting Congress, thus breaking a law signed by the president himself — are all forms of autocratic practice and are redolent of police-state actions.

The media sickness at the centre of the American political system

Lois Lerner’s emails with the White House have been deleted and cannot be retrieved. That’s what they say and what are you going to do about it? They spit in your eye because with a dead media who will not report on any misdeeds by a Democrat, there is no balance in the system. Led by a disastrous far-left President, every principle the United States has ever stood for is being betrayed in front of our eyes but nothing happens because the actual means to cause some reaction is not there. No outrage, no fury, no deep public anger. Just quiet, with a sense of resignation that nothing can be done.

And nothing will be done until a major American politician on the right decides to take this on. This was the reaction of the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. See if you can see anything in these words that reminds you of someone truly worked up about the brazen lying that has just taken place on his watch:

“The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRS’s response to congressional inquiries,” he said in a statement. “There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.”

What are they afraid of at this stage? Why is there no reaction with any sense of disgust, with a demand that the IRS be ransacked and the police sent into recover those emails which are without any doubt in the world sitting there in plain sight. The US is lost and gone. It is a backwater in the making.

How would it look if we adjusted for the media’s hard-left bias?

Here’s a story from the US: Obama as unpopular as George W. Bush in poll.

A president of such stunning incompetence, the stupidest man in the room everywhere he goes (he doesn’t tend to deal with dills), has fallen to the same level of approval as his predecessor who tried honourably and ably to deal with the problems he met. No one mentions 911, or the meltdown of the financial system that no one could have foreseen, as shown by the fact that no one did foresee it. Even so, by the time Obama became president, all the hard work in forestalling a massive recession had been done in the same way that AQ had been put on the run.

The irresponsible free press has been a disaster for America. It is hard to see how things can get better from here.

Yet you do have to wonder about the other 49% who are uncovered in this Gallup Poll:

Fifty-one percent of the Americans who responded to a Gallup poll conducted June 5-8 said that they do not believe the phrase “is honest and trustworthy” applies to President Barack Obama.

Is that to be interpreted to mean that the remaining 49% do think that the phrase “is honest and trustworthy” does apply to the president? Those hicks, who laugh at the 0.1% of Americans who are Young Earth Creationists, are more inexplicably dull-witted than anything I have come across in years. Words fail.

The siege of Baghdad begins

Iraq crisis: Baghdad prepares for the worst as Islamist militants vow to capture the city:

Iraq is breaking up. The Kurds have taken the northern oil city of Kirkuk that they have long claimed as their capital. Sunni fundamentalist fighters vow to capture Baghdad and the Shia holy cities further south.

Government rule over the Sunni Arab heartlands of north and central Iraq is evaporating as its 900,000-strong army disintegrates. Government aircraft have fired missiles at insurgent targets in Mosul, captured by Isis on Monday, but the Iraqi army has otherwise shown no sign of launching a counter-attack.

The nine-year Shia dominance over Iraq, established after the US, Britain and other allies overthrew Saddam Hussein, may be coming to an end. The Shia may continue to hold the capital and the Shia-majority provinces further south, but they will have great difficulty in re-establishing their authority over Sunni provinces from which their army has fled.

The crossing of the Rio Danube

illegals in us

It will take a while, but the end is in sight. Compare and contrast:

The Gothic War is the name given to a Gothic uprising in the eastern Roman Empire in the Balkans between about 376/7 and 382. The war, and in particular the Battle of Adrianople, was a major turning point in the history of the Roman Empire, the first barbarian invasion in a series of events over the next century that would see the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.

A new idea: helping the environment while not clobbering the economy

lake superior ice bergs

It’s across the front page of The Age and presumably The SMH but it is also posted at Drudge under the heading, Aussie Prime Minister seeks alliance to ‘dismantle’ Obama’s climate policy…. On Drudge it comes with an accompanying story, about icebergs on Lake Superior in June! (see the picture above). This is from the SMH, editorially assisted by myself to balance the editorial charaterisation posted by Mark Kenny as part of his story:

Tony Abbott is seeking a conservative alliance among “like-minded” countries, aiming to dismantle global moves to introduce carbon pricing, and undermine a push by [far-left] US President Barack Obama to push the case for action through forums such as the G20.

It’s not as if ruining your economies through actions to contain global warming is necessarily a left-right thing, it just turned out that way. Helping the poor by creating so many more of them is not my idea of policy genius. This is more my sort of thing:

[Mr Abbott] said it was important that policies to address output did not “clobber the economy” while not helping the environment.
The comments were immediately backed up by Canada with Mr Harper declaring there was no chance of any country acting for the planet if it involved costs to its economy.

“It’s not that we don’t seek to deal with climate change,” he said.

“We seek to deal with it in a way that enhances our ability to create jobs and growth, this is their position.

“No country is going to take actions that are going to deliberately harm jobs and growth in their country, we are just a bit more frank about that than other countries.”

The uncompromising attitude of both leaders suggests neither is inclined to yield to pressure from the US to revive the issue of climate change ahead of next years’ climate summit, nor back any international coordination such as additional regulations or a trading scheme.

Politics is politics. Icebergs in June at the start of summer but half the world is worried about global warming so you gotta say what you gotta say. But you must also do what you must also do. One more reason why bringing Labor back would be a step into the dark ages, in more ways than one.

Chomsky and the Obama surveillance state – he doesn’t like it

What does one make of this: Noam Chomsky: A Surveillance State Beyond Imagination Is Being Created in One of the World’s Freest Countries. Having been someone who has helped create the world that’s beginning to frighten him, my sympathies for his concern are pretty minimal, but why did he even think anyone on the left would ever care even a smidgen about issues like these.

In the past several months, we have been provided with instructive lessons on the nature of state power and the forces that drive state policy. And on a closely related matter: the subtle, differentiated concept of transparency.

The source of the instruction, of course, is the trove of documents about the National Security Agency surveillance system released by the courageous fighter for freedom Edward J. Snowden, expertly summarized and analyzed by his collaborator Glenn Greenwald in his new book, “No Place to Hide.”

The documents unveil a remarkable project to expose to state scrutiny vital information about every person who falls within the grasp of the colossus – in principle, every person linked to the modern electronic society.

Nothing so ambitious was imagined by the dystopian prophets of grim totalitarian worlds ahead.

It really is pathetic this whining jerk, like all those communists who ended up with a bullet in the brain in the basement of the Lubyanka. Well it is bad, but if you think there is a party on the left anywhere who is either going to worry or do anything about it when the government is from the so-called left you are even more naive that this latest bleat would make you already seem.

US – five years into its 20 year lost decade

The Japanese have had a twenty year lost decade following their own Keynesian stimulus. This is America reported at Drudge today:

92,009,000 Americans Not Working…
Labor Force at 36-Year Low…
7 Million Have Left Under Obama…
Lethargic economy…

And we could end up with the same kind of outcome if we don’t get on top of our debt and reduce unproductive spending. Decline is slow, and not everyone becomes poor, but in the end as a nation, we are less well off and the way out becomes more difficult every year. If the Labor Party is merely ignorant about what’s in store if we don’t fix the deficit, then it’s par for the course. But if they do understand but are still standing in the way of change, then they are despicable.
