They lie to you and call you stupid but still you vote for them.
And why is that?
Maybe because you are stupid. It’s the only answer that fits the facts.
They lie to you and call you stupid but still you vote for them.
And why is that?
Maybe because you are stupid. It’s the only answer that fits the facts.
This is what you don’t get in the mainstream press in the United States:
THE Queensland government, as host of last weekend’s G20 summit, is incensed over what it sees as an ill-informed, insulting speech from Barack Obama about climate change, the Great Barrier Reef and coal.
The idea that there might be an ounce of honesty in what Obama says or does is one of those myths that will not die. He has only one ambition, which is to do down our way of life and wreck it as comprehensively as he can. His mentor was Saul Alinski, his closest associate was the “weatherman” Bill Ayers, and he sat in the front pew of Reverend Wright’s church for twenty years. And if that doesn’t convince you, why don’t you just look at his economic, immigration, defence and foreign policies. Is it just chance, do you think, that every single thing he has done has made matters worse?
I only wish that being insulting and ill-informed was the worst of it. It is also interesting to see the issue of climate change and energy come up in this same story.
Tony Abbott told the G20 session that the “four-fifths” of the developed world that had used fossil fuels for economic growth could not now deny “the other fifth” access to coal to generate electricity for the hundred million people who were without it.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi picked up on the theme yesterday in his speech to federal parliament, calling for new-generation energy “that does not cause our glaciers to melt”. . . .
French President Francois Hollande, the host of the Paris climate change conference next year, spoke for eight minutes exclusively on climate change. Mr Modi talked of the need for access to electricity for the world’s poor.
Meanwhile the ill-informed President of the United States brought this message with him:
Mr Obama said on Saturday that climate change “here in Australia” means “longer droughts, more wildfires” and “the incredible natural glory of the Great Barrier Reef is threatened”.
He knows so little about so much.
Depending on America since the retreat of Britain has had its imperfections but we are in a whole new world since the coming of the Age of Obama. The article opens with a listing of the horrors of American foreign policy under Obama before coming to this:
Is there a pattern or unifying conviction that underlies such disarray?
Yes says Bret Stephens, the Wall Street Journal’s Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign affairs columnist. In “America in Retreat: The New Isolationism and the Coming Global Disorder,” he argues that the many debacles of the last six years — with the striking exception of the White House’s dogged intervention in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict — are tied together by Obama’s determination to scale back America’s global responsibilities. “America’s retreat — or what the Obama administration prefers to call ‘retrenchment’ — is the central fact of this decade, just as the war on terror was the central fact of the last decade,” contends Stephens. It is setting the stage for far worse.
I don’t think America has become more isolationist but it is willing to elect an incompetent and ignorant chief executive who has left wreckage everywhere he has turned. If an open borders policy doesn’t frighten the electorate enough to abandon the Democrats, I am at a loss to imagine what now will. The world map in 2114 will look nothing like the one we see today.
It’s one thing to fool the voters since our political elites already think we’re stupid but it is another to fool the media which, whatever the rest of us think of them, they think of themselves as always the smartest people in the room, even when Obama is in the room at the same time. They share the same delusions.
But now with Gruber having let the cat out of the bag, the wounds are festering and even the media is starting to report an issue that has gone viral. They may no longer be acting in unity to hide this issue from the public. This may be the issue that finally breaks the logjam of the hold on the media by the left and not just in the US. It still hasn’t reached the three major networks but perhaps it is only a matter of time. Do people really want to remain in ignorance of so much that affects their lives?
This is from The Chicago Tribune, you know, Barack’s adopted home town: Smug Obama administration duped the public.
Until Gruber’s videos appeared, it was hard to prove the administration actually intended to deceive voters when it rammed through the legislation on straight party-line votes. Perhaps the president was simply making statements he believed to be true but later turned out to be false. That’s not lying. That’s an honest mistake.
The Gruber videos are devastating because they say flatly that the deception was premeditated and was used self-consciously to pass the law. The professor goes further and says the law would have been defeated if its central provisions had been known to voters.
And then there’s Charles Krauthammer, in the Washington Post as always so nothing new there, but this time with a story that really may penetrate the fog of resistance, The Gruber Confession. The article points out that Gruber may by himself sink Obamacare because he has stated on tape the interpretation of the Act that if upheld by the Supreme Court, will mean that Obamacare cannot function. It will sink immediately if it upholds that using the word “states” in the act really does refer to the states. And as for Democrats and the politics of the left:
It’s refreshing that “the most transparent administration in history,” as this administration fancies itself, should finally display candor about its signature act of social change. Inadvertently, of course. But now we know what lay behind Obama’s smooth reassurances — the arrogance of an academic liberalism, so perfectly embodied in the Gruber Confession, that rules in the name of a citizenry it mocks, disdains and deliberately, contemptuously deceives.
There are layers of tar to go with the feathers to come. But this is one administration whose ability to convince anyone of anything has disappeared, absolutely disappeared. No one will ever trust it again. The Senate majority leader (or at least he is until January) wants Obama to delay introducing his immigration changes until after the money is appropriated by Congress. He may no longer think a shutdown of Congress would irritate the community but might even be welcomed. Who would have thought you would see this, Harry Reid Urges White House to Delay Immigration Executive Action?
House Speaker John Boehner . . . said a government shutdown could not be ruled out. Several rank-and-file Republicans are already threatening to try and hold up the spending bill over immigration.
He said all options were on the table, declaring: “We’re going to fight the president tooth and nail if he continues down this path.”
A government shutdown was not the preferred route, Boehner said, but he said it could not be ruled out.
“Our goal here is to stop the president from violating his own oath of office and violating the Constitution,” Boehner said. “It’s not to shut down the government.”
Reid first expressed his concern about immigration during an off-camera conversation with a CNN producer, saying: “I’d like to get the finances of this country out of the way before he does it, but that’s up to him.”
Sometimes you just have to let them shut the Washington Monument and a few national parks for a few weeks if you are going to save your country. With a zero-credibility president who still has an agenda of his own, there are certainly interesting times ahead.
As for the man who let the cat out of the bag, his name should now become a noun and a verb. A gruber (n.) is someone who grubes (v.i.) – they tell people who they lied to how stupid they were to believe what they were told.
He is such a grub, but a perfect miniature of the kind of people who represent the left in politics. Dishonest, smug and elitist. Just leave everything to the experts and the less we hear from you the better things will go. Yet his description almost perfectly fits my own belief about the typical voter for parties of the left who, just as he says, can be exploited because of their lack of economic understanding, and indeed because of their lack of understanding of much else besides. The quote comes at 3:29 in the clip. I wonder how clever he thinks of himself right now. We pulled it over on you rubes, didn’t we?
Let’s fact it, the US is no longer a country, it is a reality TV show for the entertainment of the rest of the world.
As everyone knows, the largest problem facing us is global warming. This is the middle of November which to us natives of North America is a time of turning leaves and walking in the woods, in many ways the nicest of the four seasons. Snow and freezing cold in mid-November is not part of the agenda. This from Drudge:
Minnesota shatters snow record from 1898…
KEEP CALM AND SHOVEL ON…
Arctic blast pummels USA…
Only 6 States NOT Expecting Snow in Coming Week…
Winter still month away…
CHILL MAP…
The only science that is settled is that if you are on the left you are impervious to evidence. And then we find these foreign policy issues also grouped for our convenience as the New World Order begins to take shape:
BIBI WARNS USA: IRAN. IS. ENEMY.
China Flight Tests New Stealth Jet During Obama Visit…
USA Sends Plane to Chinese Air Show Despite Pentagon Concerns…
RUSSIA TO DECLARE USA ADVERSARY…
FT: Nuke-Armed Putin Bigger Problem than ISIS..
Iran orders two more reactors…
Meanwhile, on border protection and illegal immigration:
SESSIONS: NO SURRENDER ON IMMIGRATION!
‘Cannot let one executive edict erase laws of entire nation’…
WHITE HOUSE: Obama ‘looking forward’ to executive action…
INVESTIGATION: Illegal aliens faking crimes to stay in USA…
Drunk Illegal Kills 3-Year-Old in Hit and Run…
And if you don’t think there is still hunger in the United States, you really do have to see this:
Student photos of skimpy Michelle O lunches raise ire of parents…
Single chicken patty, small glob of potatoes…
Breadstick and marinara sauce…
Just who are these stupid people he is talking about: The Democrats and the media.
He is saying that the people who put Obamacare together knowingly understood that if Americans had understood the Affordable Care Act, that they would have rejected it because they are too stupid. They therefore by intent made the Act impossible to understand to fool them into supporting what they would otherwise have rejected because it was good for them. When the good part will arrive no one asks. This is a marry in haste, repent in leisure moment which is the entire story of the Obama administration.
Sultan Knish has a quite insightful column on Obama versus the Democrats which he sees as a war to the death between “the-win-power-by-saying-anything-that-gets-votes-whether-you-mean-it-or-not” wing of the party versus “The Progressives” who actually have a radical far left agenda that if people actually knew what it was would avoid Democrats like the plague. The Progressives are our modern version of the Bolshevik cell that lies in wait for their moment. The win-by-saying-anything group just likes the power and the perks and riches that come with it. As for the Progressives:
Their goal is to transform the country. If they can do that by winning elections, they’ll win them. But if they can’t, they’ll still follow their agenda.
And most importantly, they care not in the slightest if they ruin the Democrat Party and make it unelectable for a few years so long as they can put their own agenda in place. Here is where we are:
It’s not just about Obama’s ego. His campaigns and his time in office were meant to showcase the progressive position that the only way to win was from the left. Obama and his people would rather radicalize the Democratic Party and lose, than moderate their positions and stand a chance of winning. The left isn’t interested in being a political flirtation. It nukes any attempt at centrism to send the message that its allies will not be allowed any other alternative except to live or die by its agenda. Obama deliberately sabotaged Reid’s campaign plans, as Reid’s chief of staff discussed, because that strategy involved disavowing Obama and his legacy. In the time honored tradition of the radical left, Obama would rather have a Republican senate than a Democratic senate won by going to the center.
You cannot compromise with the Vanguard Parties of the Left. They are never your friends. In just the same way that those who thought they could control Hitler back in 1933 found they could not, the Democrats are finding they cannot control Obama. Whether any one else will be able to is the question that will be answered over the next two years. My own guess is that they will not in large part because they don’t really understand what they are dealing with.
Andrew Bolt, Making Up History, has a link to a story, CIA reveals what Argo got wrong. If you want evidence of just how rotten from the inside American security agencies have become, you really ought to look at this idiot list.
Here’s what the movie Argo got right. The Iranian Revolution of 1979 installed a totalitarian government that was evil from Day One, a government that has ruined the lives of the Iranian people. It is a regime that is now doing everything it can, with virtually open connivance of the Obama Administration, to develop nuclear weapons that, should it succeed, will destabilise the Middle East and put more than just Israel at supreme risk. Here is the first of the 19 bits that the movie “got wrong”:
When the US Embassy is overtaken the 6 US diplomats go right to the Canadian ambassador’s residence to live for the 3 months.
All of these “errors” are of the same order of magnitude. They spice the film up just a tad, creating a bit of tension since it is a movie. But as these things go, this is near-on documentary coverage of events that are now 35 years old. You’d have to be around 50 to remember any of it. And where will you see anything, anywhere to give you a genuine picture of the kind of society Iran has become? Here’s the trailer. You know they’re going to get away, the facts are pretty well accurate and the films stands out as an actually pro-American piece of filming which has been almost unheard of since the 1970s. And it is an amazing story.
There is a final 20th point in the list of “errors” which must have been inserted by someone who retains at least an element of the CIA of old, you know, the CIA when it was still trying to defend the West:
Real #Argo: All involved in the operation were innovative, brave, & creative. Thank you @BenAffleck for making a film that reflects this.
You know, they really are surprised. They may not say it out loud, but it’s what Obama thought right to the very end.
