What difference at this time does it make?

It doesn’t make any difference at all because 40% of the United States will vote for her no matter what, plus 90% of all voting residents of American cemeteries, plus 100% of undocumented migrants who are not legally entitled to vote but demand the franchise. Not to mention those who vote more than once who make up around 5-10% of the total vote count. Nor should we forget that important hacker-minority who are able to rewire voting machines who account for another important demographic. Plus the 80% of journalists who will tell you every day that no one is more deserving of the trust of the American people, especially given the high quality of service to the country she has shown in all of her previous lines of work. I don’t know why this Gowdy chap was being so mean to her, but what else can you expect from a Republican? In the second video below, the Democrat chair was much more solicitous of her condition when she had her pre-presidential coughing fit before the cameras.

That she is heading to the Democrat nomination in spite of everything imaginable standing in her way other than a form of partisanship no one could have imagined say going back to the 1990s is undeniable. You can be sure that the prevailing interests driving this outcome are not those of illegal migrants or minority groups but they are the interests of someone. Who they are? Why do they want her? How they are pulling the ropes? In relation to all of this I have no idea but their ability to control events is impressive.

The article is titled, Over A Year Before 9/11, Trump Wrote Of Terror Threat With Remarkable Clarity This is from his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, that is, a book written while Bill Clinton was still president. This is part of what he wrote then:

“I may be making waves, but that’s all right,” wrote Trump. “Making waves is usually what you need to do to rock the boat, and our national-security boat definitely needs rocking.

Let’s point fingers. The biggest threat to our security is ourselves, because we’ve become arrogant. Dangerously arrogant. It’s time for a realistic view of the world and our place in it. Do we truly understand the threats we face? And let me give a warning: You won’t hear a lot of what follows from candidates in this campaign, because what I’ve got to say is definitely not happy talk.

There are forces to be worried about, people and programs to take action against. Now.”

“We face a different problem when we talk about the individual fanatics who want to harm us,” The Donald continued, discussing the threat from individual terrorist organizations that despised American culture.

Trump said such people were determined to attack us.

“We can kid ourselves all we want by mocking their references to the Great Satan, but also keep in mind that there is no greater destiny for many people than to deal the Great Satan a major kick in the teeth,” he wrote, adding they despised the U.S. support for Israel.

“Our teenage boys fantasize about Cindy Crawford; young terrorists fantasize about turning an American city (and themselves) into charcoal,” Trump wrote.

Other than not being old school tie, just exactly what is wrong with him as President? I guess the way things are heading, we are going to find out in real time.

Canada elects a Liberal government – another Trudeau

In Canada that, of course, means that the Conservatives have lost. Justin Trudeau to be prime minister as Liberals surge to majority.

Justin Trudeau will be Canada’s next prime minister after leading the Liberal Party to a stunning majority government win, dashing the hopes of Stephen Harper, who had been seeking his fourth consecutive mandate, CBC News has projected.

This will be the second time Canada will be led by a Trudeau, as the Liberal leader follows in the footsteps of his father, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who served as prime minister for almost 16 years before retiring in 1984.

“Sunny ways my friends. Sunny ways,” Trudeau told his enthusiastic supporters in Montreal. “This is what positive politics can do.”

Canadians, he said, had sent a clear message that it’s “time for change in this country my friends. Real change.”

And real change is what they will get. It is like the Clinton name in the US. You cannot see why they would elect either, but you cannot deny that is what the voters want.

The lost continent of Europe

When it finally happens, they are not going to know what hit them. We are possibly the stupidest generation in history, with our affluence making the wealth generating machinery of our societies look effortless but also apparently dulling our minds. The Europeans are about to find out how different reality is from appearance when everything is running well. How it works is entirely invisible. The article, written by a Swede, comes with the explicit title, Sweden Close to Collapse. These are the dot-points of the introduction but read the whole article which will scare you, or at least it should. If we have the wit to understand what is going on we can learn from their mistakes and not make the same ones ourselves. And while this is about Sweden in particular, it applies to the whole of Western Europe. There is no reason this could not be us because there are plenty here just as “imprudent” as the Swedes.

. If the wave of migrants keeps coming, in 10-15 years, Swedes will be a minority in their own country. That there is, in fact, an exchange of populations going on, should be clear in any sober assessment.

. “The final consequence of… Sweden’s immigration policy is that the economy will collapse — because who is going to pay for it all?* And economic breakdowns, once they happen, always happen very fast.” — Lars Hedegaard.

. It will not be long until the Swedes realize that the state will not look after them. The country that just 20 years ago was considered one of the safest and most affluent in the world, is now in danger of becoming a failed state.

* This notion of “who will pay for it all” is part of the failure of economic theory and our superficial way of understanding the underlying economic reality in terms of money. Of money, there is never a shortage. Of food, housing, services there is only enough if the saving of the past has allowed us to lay down the right amounts to meet the requirements of the present. It’s not paying for it that matters, but having the goods and services in existence that are there to be bought. The shortages that the rush of migrants have caused are already becoming manifest and now the fight will begin in earnest.

The headline’s in quotation marks because the activist-journalist at the SMH thinks this is a preposterous over-reaction: ‘The terrorist was shot and killed; that is the right response.’ The picture also comes with the story, with this text beneath it:

The story is worth a read, however, since it is a more than usually one-eyed, one-sided approach of the kinds we find everywhere. A 15-year old was shot down in the street in Sydney just last week because he had just murdered an employee of the NSW police. No one in Australia is asking for our police rules of engagement in dealing with murderers while in the midst of a murderous rampage. Ruth Pollard, the activist-with-byline at the SMH, ought to try a similar kind of argument as a think-piece on her editorial page. I suspect even regular readers of Fairfax might find her just a tad idiotic even for their own fellow-leftist tastes.

UPDATE: From Brett Stevens via the Wall Street Journal discussing these murders on Israeli streets under the heading, Palestine: The Psychotic Stage. No answers in how to deal with the problem but some moral rebalancing about who are the murderers and who are being attacked in the street:

Treatises have been written about the media’s mind-set when it comes to telling the story of Israel. We’ll leave that aside for now. The significant question is why so many Palestinians have been seized by their present blood lust—by a communal psychosis in which plunging knives into the necks of Jewish women, children, soldiers and civilians is seen as a religious and patriotic duty, a moral fulfillment. Despair at the state of the peace process, or the economy? Please. It’s time to stop furnishing Palestinians with the excuses they barely bother making for themselves.

Above all, it’s time to give hatred its due. We understand its explanatory power when it comes to American slavery, or the Holocaust. We understand it especially when it is the hatred of the powerful against the weak. Yet we fail to see it when the hatred disturbs comforting fictions about all people being basically good, or wanting the same things for their children, or being capable of empathy.

Today in Israel, Palestinians are in the midst of a campaign to knife Jews to death, one at a time. This is psychotic. It is evil. To call it anything less is to serve as an apologist, and an accomplice.

Apologists and accomplices they may be, but they feel as moral and pleased with themselves as if they had just put fifty cents into a beggar’s hat.

This is what our elites believe, and this is the world they are making for us from inside their gated communities. From The Atlantic: The Case for Getting Rid of Borders—Completely. This is the conclusion:

Closed borders are one of the world’s greatest moral failings but the opening of borders is the world’s greatest economic opportunity. The grandest moral revolutions in history—the abolition of slavery, the securing of religious freedom, the recognition of the rights of women—yielded a world in which virtually everyone was better off. They also demonstrated that the fears that had perpetuated these injustices were unfounded. Similarly, a planet unscarred by iron curtains is not only a world of greater equality and justice. It is a world unafraid of itself.

Merkel’s not insane. She, like others of her kind, just thinks that everyone should be allowed to go wherever others have been successful in creating wealth so that they too can have their fair share as well. What could possibly be wrong with that? What could be more just? A hundred years from now they will all look back at us and think how primitive we must have been.
