To some decency is merely a weakness to exploit

By Simon Benson via Andrew Bolt whose post is titled, A fine man and good Prime Minister destroyed.

(I)t is my view that, just like Kim Beazley was perhaps the best prime minister we never had, Tony Abbott was potentially the best prime minister we had but never knew it…

Above all else, the bloke I know is one of immense personal decency, integrity and goodwill. He espouses a set of values, principles and personal ethics that speak to community values that many of us could probably only aspire to. And on these values, he is uncompromising. He is loyal to a fault and conducts himself with a personal humility rare in politics.

His mistake was that he, perhaps naively, believed the principles he adopted in life would work in politics, and that the loyalty would be returned. To the shame of many on his own side — those who sat in the parliament on Tuesday like lemmings with their heads bowed after having thrown one of their own off a cliff rather than themselves — it took Labor leader Bill Shorten to recognise the character of Abbott…

The unrecognised fact is Abbott achieved more in just 24 months of government than perhaps any modern leader. He got credit from the nation for none of it, including even the most fundamental task of restoring stability to the administration of government after the near institutional destruction inflicted by Labor.

Howard himself said he did not believe that Abbott — and Scott Morrison — would be able to stop the boats. Under Abbott the country will be allowed a plebiscite on gay marriage. Who would have thought it?…

Despite the predictions he would be a national embarrassment on the world stage, it was on this stage that he became a statesman. His response to the twin tragedies of MH17 and MH370 assuaged the grief and anger of a nation. He elevated Australia’s response to global terrorism to one of leading rather than following, as recognised by the US President Barack Obama.

And he signed three free trade agreements that Labor seemed incapable of progressing…

In toppling Tony Abbott, Turnbull and his cohorts have not only legitimised the scandalous behaviour of the previous Labor government, they have endorsed it, using similar justifications for their actions.

Ultimately, it was when The Australian went over to the Dark Side that made the final difference. Other than Greg Sheridan, Henry Ergas and Nick Cater, reading The Oz became like reading The Age.

Where’s our Donald Trump?

I watched Bolt this morning and the interview with Scott Morrison over Peter Dutton’s off-the-record but on-the-microphone comment. So this is where we now are, Peter Dutton apologises for microphone gaffe.

First, it was not a gaffe, it was a joke. In fact, it is the kind of joke that gives people like me some kind of hope that there are some amongst the Libs who understand climate change is a political scam, not the most urgent issue of our time.

Second, what is he doing apologising? Why isn’t the response something along the lines of – you guys in the media are such airheads that it is impossible to have an adult conversation with any of you around. The actual response, on the other hand, makes me think that these guys do not have the internal fortitude to do what needs doing:

“Obviously it was a private conversation – I should have realised the mike was there,” Mr Dutton told Sky News. “I didn’t; it was directly behind me. I made a mistake and I apologise to anyone who has taken offence to it. It was a light-hearted discussion with the PM and I didn’t mean any offence to anyone.

“If anyone has taken offence they should accept my apology. I’m disappointed that it allowed for a distraction from what was a very good policy announcement.”

Now imagine Donald Trump having been picked up by some stray microphone making a joke about some policy issue, especially one where to his own side he would be showing a bit of common sense. The most important change that may yet be wrought by Trump is his taking the media on. They are far left loons, and part of an amazingly uninformed, poorly educated cohort of journalists whose views, for the most part, are not worth the newspapers they are printed on. No self-respecting government should be forced to treat them seriously.

Media ignorance and America’s alignment with the Nazis of the 21st century

Socialism is a viral belief system that attacks people when they are young, and is especially destructive of people with university degrees in the arts and humanities. It is a kind of equaliser, that makes smart people effectively stupid. You hardly have to go very far in reading the media to see it. Which brings me to this: The world just changed forever, but you’d hardly know it from the media

It is now official. On Thursday, the Senate let the Iran deal go through – a deal that will forever change the landscape of the world in terrifying and unthinkable ways. I need not enumerate how this collaboration with Iran (and it is a collaboration) will affect Israel, the Middle East, the United States, and indeed the entire world.

Readers know all too well.

And yet, you’d hardly know how our fate was sealed on Thursday. America’s alignment with the Nazis of the 21st century hardly made a dent in media coverage.

That’s because Nazis were National Socialists. The only consistency on the left are: (1) their attacks on anyone with wealth earned by producing things (i.e. they do not to attack the wealthy as such which allows them to ignore actors and sports stars, corrupt union officials or extremely well paid media people) and (2) to attack anyone who actually bases their values on the Judeo-Christian tradition which allows them to ignore the faults that might be found in the value systems of any other religious groupings (which, of course, includes atheists).

Media ignorance is so pervasive that everyone, other than fellow socialists, is perfectly well aware of it. Watching news shows on the ABC for people without this socialist warping is astonishingly painful which is why so few people do it.

As to the specifics about media making the population ignorant of anything, the most astonishing evidence was the reaction across the world to that picture of a single drowned child. Where have these people been for the past five years not to have come across many many photos just like it and far worse. Where they have been is watching the news and reading our papers, that’s where they’ve been, the perfect recipe for becoming as ignorant as the people who present and distort the news. How else does an Obama get elected or a Bill Shorten become competitive looking forward to our next election?

The more news they watch the less people seem to know about the world

dead boy

How is it even possible that such a picture could suddenly galvanise tens of millions around the world to open their borders and admit who knows who within their territories? And you know how? Because the newspaper readers and television-news watchers of the world have not been shown any of the horrors that have been routine over the past half decade in every war zone in the Middle East. For any of us who have been paying attention, the picture was so completely lacking in newsworthiness that it has taken me by utter surprise to find that this one photo now has millions of people round the world ready to open their frontiers to just about anyone with a story to tell about their needs for refuge. Such ignorance is not an accident. It is the consequence of having come to depend on a media so singularly dishonest that it has made Bill Shorten competitive and given Barack Obama two terms as president.

Government broadcasters are far left cells the world over

The pathetic sheltered workshop of far-left loons known as the ABC has its counterparts everywhere else. Here we take you to Canada which has its CBC, as unrepentant as any such bunch to be found anywhere. Here is a post by Kate McMillan at Small Dead Animals on Leave nasty comments for CBC and see what happens. As her own comments thread makes clear, the only characteristic that bands together all of the comments that are not posted by the CBC is that they are contrary to the views of the cadres who run the organisation. To understand the post and the comments thread that follows after, you need to know that the NDP is the Greens equivalent of Canada which may yet form the government after the election in October and whose leader is Thomas Mulcair. The Tories are the Conservatives led by Prime Minister Stephen Harper, similar to Tony Abbott in that he is a man of common sense surrounded by crazies, and those crazies are not just found in other parties. The Liberals (ie Labor) are led by the astonishingly vacuous Justin Trudeau who, like Hillary Clinton, leads the party only because of his family name. Here then are Kate’s words to start the post:

We all know CBC moderates comments. Most media outlets will. We do at The Rebel, we may be free speechers but there are people that say things that can get us sued, they spew profanity, they can do all kinds of things. So we moderate, every media outlet does.

So why on earth is CBC doing a story on the Conservative Party moderating comments on their social media feeds, other than the obvious answer – to make the Conservatives look bad.

While the Tories, the NDP and the Liberals all have active Instagram feeds, Meg Sinclair, a spokeswoman for Facebook Canada, said Harper’s account is the only one that has launched ads to date.
–snip–

Many of the early comments on the sponsored posts were critical of Harper and his government’s policies. Those comments have since disappeared.

Who the hell cares on the CBC? This is only about showing the Conservatives in a bad light.

Try this out, go to CBC’s site and leave rude and profane comments and see if they stay up or are deleted. Then drop me a line in the comments to let me know what happens.

No one will be surprised at the results, but they should be read as a measure of the difficulty parties of the right face in every jurisdiction. The people who run the media are articulate, have direct control of the most far-reaching media service in their own countries, have the marketing of left-wing sophistries down pat, are as devious as any leftist soap-box operator found anywhere, and have a loud aggressive audience who may be relatively small in numbers but are found everywhere, and importantly, often have the special mark of deep ignorance, a university degree in the humanities. These organisations also have a constituency within every party in which they operate. It is a formidable combination that has thus far proven impossible to root out. And now that they are discovering this for themselves, have become more arrogant and indifferent to the public with each passing year.

Who is the ABC to preach to us about anything?

Did Jonathan Green really say this? From Andrew Bolt:

The other thing here on the point of shame and advertising your evil is that IS [Islamic State] depend on the likes of Tony Abbott to do that job for them – to exaggerate their evil, to continually talk about their death cultness, to parade this in front of us, this is doing their promotional work for them.

No doubt he can look himself in the mirror and see a fine, upstanding representative of the highest morality. The fact that others see him in a different way is merely because we are unable to see his virtues and deep insight into the human condition. Let me therefore also bring across the picture that Andrew put up.

isis murder

Pathological and psychotic, and that goes for anyone who does not condemn such barbarity to the absolutely fullest extent. Tell me how to exaggerate this kind of evil. This is sick and disgusting, and if there is anyone who does not agree, then what words shall we use to describe them? Who is the ABC to preach to us about anything?

Parties of the left must lie to get elected

From the United States:

And from Australia:

It is just as straightforward as anything in politics I know. The left lies and are not then corrected by the media. Neither of the above were minor issues of no substance. In both instances the lie was vital to gathering the votes necessary to win an election. Had Obama said that you will not be able to keep your health plan, or had Gillard said that there would be a carbon tax under the government she led, both would almost certainly have lost the elections they were both then in the midst of.

Now we are dealing with the absolute falsehoods surrounding Dyson Heydon. The real issue is whether there are a series of corrupt union officials who are syphoning huge amounts from the unions they lead while selling out the workers they represent. The issue is not whether the Commission is run by someone who may or may not in the privacy of the polling booth vote for the Coalition. Labor must lie, and in lying must depend on the media for protection. To say or print the truth in this instance, that yes there does appear to be evidence of quite a bit of union corruption, would not pave the way to election success for Labor. The ALP knows it, which is why it is trying to discredit Heydon, and the media knows it, which is why they are trying to do the same. We live in very dangerous times, when the media, who clearly understand what they are doing in protecting such corruption from being recognised by every voter across the nation, does all it can to hide, distort and mislead, with the unmistakeable intention of doing what it can so that Labor can win the next election. Without the full blown assistance of the media, parties of the left could never win, or at least not with the values they now represent.

Media lies and the parties of the left

The parties of the left depend on lies to get elected, and even more so depend on the news gathering organisations to suppress any news that might harm the left. Here is Andrew Klavan making that point:

Here is the first rule of “mainstream” news coverage in America: Whenever the prejudices and illusions of left-wingers are confirmed by an individual incident, the incident is treated as representative; when those prejudices and illusions are contradicted, the incident is considered an aberration — and treating it as representative is deemed hateful.

You would think that everyone knew that, but not everyone does. You would think that everyone who does know that would discount any news source from the usual sources as tainted, but not everyone does that either. The left and the media are now as one. The media know the power they have and they are filled with those who are prepared to lie and distort every message they write and print to perpetuate the left in power.
