Where are all those who fought to take on this fight who worried about the museum in Baghdad. See the real thing in action. From Reuters: With sledgehammer, Islamic State smashes Iraqi our history:

Ultra-radical Islamist militants in northern Iraq have destroyed a priceless collection of statues and sculptures from the ancient Assyrian era, inflicting what an archaeologist described as incalculable damage to a piece of shared human history.

A video published by Islamic State on Thursday showed men attacking the artifacts, some of them identified as antiquities from the 7th century BC, with sledgehammers and drills, saying they were symbols of idolatry.

“The Prophet ordered us to get rid of statues and relics, and his companions did the same when they conquered countries after him,” an unidentified man said in the video.

The smashed articles appeared to come from an antiquities museum in Mosul, the northern city which was overrun by Islamic State last June, a former employee at the museum told Reuters.

They are barbarians, and they are already inside the gate.

There is an article in the Washington Post, Which image of Obama mugging for BuzzFeed’s cameras diminishes the presidency the most, ranked which is discussed in another post with the title, Obama the Fool. The winning picture is of Obama smiling on the golf course, moments after his press conference on the first of the Americans murdered by the Islamic State. And the text at the end of the post reads:

Thousands of innocent people are being murdered around the world, Russia is advancing into Europe, Iran is developing nuclear weapons, ISIS is on a rampage. And this is how Obama deals with the duties of his office.

That this is our Nobel Peace Prize-winning president. No wonder Vladimir Putin and Iranian Mullahs are having a field day at the expense of the West. The leader of the free world is clownish. They realized it years ago; maybe Americans will start getting a clue.

But so it has been for 6 years.

Count me speechless. We have a fool as president.

Is that it? That he is just a simpleton in a clown suit? Until you and others can bring yourself to saying what the reality actually is, that you have a supporter of your deepest enemy as your president, that you have a traitor as the Commander in Chief, you have not even begun to understand what ought to be obvious to anyone.

The title is self-explanatory of the article, GERMAN EMBED REPORTER: ISIS PLANS ON KILLING ‘HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS’ IN ‘RELIGIOUS CLEANSING’. This is the whole article:

Jurgen Todenhofer, the first Western reporter to embed with Islamic State fighters and not be killed in the process, spoke to Al Jazeera about his time with the terror group.

Todenhofer lived side by side with the jihadist fighters for ten days in the Islamic State-stronghold city of Mosul, Iraq. He was accompanied only by his son, who served as his cameraman.

“I always asked them about the value of mercy in Islam,” but “I didn’t see any mercy in their behavior,” explained Todenhofer. He added, “Something that I don’t understand at all is the enthusiasm in their plan of religious cleansing, planning to kill the non-believers… They also will kill Muslim democrats because they believe that non-ISIL-Muslims put the laws of human beings above the commandments of God.”

The German reporter then elaborated on how shocked he was about how “willing to kill” the ISIS fighters are. He said that they were ready to commit genocide. “They were talking about [killing] hundreds of millions. They were enthusiastic about it, and I just cannot understand that,” said Todenhofer

He warned that the Islamic State “is much stronger than we think,” and that their recruiting has brought motivated jihadis from across the globe. “Each day, hundreds of new enthusiastic fighters are arriving,” explained Todenhofer. “There is an incredible enthusiasm that I have never seen in any other war zones I have been to.”

The journalist asserted that the U.S.-led bombing campaign was not going to stop the Islamic State and its continuing jihad. He told Al Jazeera that he believed the terror group would only be stopped if fellow Sunni Iraqis would rise up against them.

And then there’s this, Suppose Islam Had a Holocaust and No One Noticed, in which we find a good deal of other things, among which he says the following:

“We will conquer Europe one day. It is not a question of (if) we will conquer Europe, just a matter of when that will happen,” an Islamic State spokesman had warned. “The Europeans need to know that when we come, it will not be in a nice way. It will be with our weapons.”

“Those who do not convert to Islam or pay the Islamic tax will be killed.”

Imagine that the burning towns and villages aren’t in Nigeria or Syria. Imagine them in France or Sweden. It’s not that great of a leap from armed cells carrying out attacks to a militia capturing entire towns and villages. They’re different phases in the same conflict. [My emphasis]

This is from The Age. I will know that things are really turning when we can see the same in The New York Times. The article is by Julie Szego and is titled, Let’s not pussyfoot around definitions, Man Haron Monis was a terrorist and comes with the sub-heading, “‘Lone wolves’ may have no formal ties to terror groups, be criminals or mentally ill, but their ideology is key to understanding their actions”.

To categorise Monis’ actions as those of an ordinary criminal rather than a religious extremist we have to deprive him of the “benefit” of being an individual. Monis had proclaimed his disgust for Australia’s military intervention in Afghanistan. He sent abusive letters to families of deceased Australian soldiers who served there. He converted from Shia Islam to Sunni, pledging allegiance to Islamic State. During the siege he requested an IS flag, obviously troubled that his banner wasn’t the pure article. He demanded Tony Abbott refer to his actions as a terrorist attack. It was prudent tactics to deny his self-definition during the siege, but to do so now is to flinch from reality. . . .

Monis should be seen as a violent criminal and a terrorist. We must name his extremist ideology, accept that it is influential and pernicious and redouble our efforts to confront it as a calm, harmonious community.

Together, the “lone wolves” form a rabid pack. Monis doesn’t need a certificate of authenticity signed by Islamic State.

When they say ‘kill a crusader’ they mean kill Christians

From The Australian, Islamic State calls for terrorist attacks in Australia.

ISLAMIC State has named Australia as one of five main targets for terrorist attacks, calling for “stab the crusader” to be a “battle cry” for its supporters around the world.

The group released the latest edition of Dabiq — its official magazine — early this morning, which featured calls for worldwide action against the “crusaders”, as it has dubbed the US-led coalition committed to tackling Islamic State through military action.

The release of the magazine followed last month’s speech by the group’s official spokesman, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, in which the first public calls for attacks in specific countries were made.

All terrorist attacks should clearly be attributable to “patrons” of Islamic State so they cannot be described by media as “random killings”, the new article said.

“It is very important that attacks take place in every country that has entered into the alliance against the Islamic State, especially the US, UK, France, Australia and Germany,” an article in the magazine said.

“Every Muslim should get out of his house, find a crusader, and kill him.

“It is important that the killing becomes attributed to patrons of the Islamic State who have obeyed its leadership … otherwise, crusader media makes such attacks appear to be random killings.”

Between rounds of golf, these were President Obama’s remarks on the execution of journalist James Foley by Islamic State:

Today, the entire world is appalled by the brutal murder of Jim Foley by the terrorist group ISIL. Jim was a journalist, a son, a brother and a friend. He reported from difficult and dangerous places, bearing witness to the lives of people a world away.

He was taken hostage nearly two years ago in Syria, and he was courageously reporting at the time on the conflict there. Jim was taken from us in an act of violence that shocked the conscience of the entire world. He was 40 years old, one of five siblings, the son of a mom and dad who worked tirelessly for his release. Earlier today, I spoke to the Foleys and told them that we are all heartbroken at their loss and join them in honoring Jim and all that he did.

Now, Jim Foley’s life stands in stark contrast to his killers. Let’s be clear about ISIL. They have rampaged across cities and villages killing innocent, unarmed civilians in cowardly acts of violence. They abduct women and children and subject them to torture and rape and slavery. They have murdered Muslims, both Sunni and Shia, by the thousands. They target Christians and religious minorities, driving them from their homes, murdering them when they can, for no other reason than they practice a different religion.

They declared their ambition to commit genocide against an ancient people. So ISIL speaks for no religion. Their victims are overwhelmingly Muslim, and no faith teaches people to massacre innocents. No just god would stand for what they did yesterday and what they do every single day. ISIL has no ideology of any value to human beings. Their ideology is bankrupt. They may claim out of expediency that they are at war with the United States or the West, but the fact is they terrorize their neighbors and offer them nothing but an endless slavery to their empty vision and the collapse of any definition of civilized behavior.

Any thoughts while you’re at it about Hamas? Words are his specialty. Actions not so much.

It also says that Muslims must fight against the “People of the Book” – Jews, Christians, and others who are considered to have received previous revelations from Allah – until they “pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued” (9:29). That option of submission and subjugation, however, is not open to groups that have no written revelation that could qualify them for “People of the Book” status. Hence for the Yazidis, to convert or die are the only Qur’anic options open for them.

The great scholar and expert on Islam ( family in Kenya and schooling in Indonesia, for example, must have provided some exposure ) is being disingenuous.

Under Islam, the Yazidis aren’t even as low in the hierarchy as Christians and Jews. They are seen as idolators and devil worshipers and hence ‘not innocent’. This is another speech brought to you by the representatives of the Muslim Brotherhood apparently embedded through the US government.

So the bit left out of this speech is – ‘but it is righteous to slaughter kuffir’.

Anyway, that is what they are telling us, Islamic State message to America: ‘we will drown all of you in blood’.This is the message.

The Islamic State militant group that has seized large parts of Iraq and drawn the first American air strikes since the end of the occupation in 2011 has warned the United States it will attack Americans “in any place” if the raids hit its militants.

The video, which shows a photograph of an American who was beheaded during the U.S. occupation of Iraq and victims of snipers, featured a statement which said in English “we will drown all of you in blood”.

I suspect they mean it. But with one of their supporters now president of the United States, I imagine not very much is going to be done about any of it.
