Fake news about fake bombs

I realise that if you are on the left, every bad thing that happens is Donald Trump’s fault irrespective of whether there is any evidence pointing towards anything at all. This is from the now #NeverTrump Drudge:

Pipe bombs target Dems, CNN as political tensions mount...
Packed with shards of glass...
Featured parody ISIS flag...
ON AIR ALARM...
ZUCKER COMES OUT SWINGING AT PRESIDENT...
Trump says he's 'trying to be nice'...
Calls on media to end hostility...
Rally chants 'lock her up' after bomb threats made to Hillary...
NYC 'Shelter In Place' Text Alert Causes Panic...
SOROS: The Hate That Is Consuming Us...

Specially liked the bit from George Soros. The left has the most shrivelled sense of irony in the history of the world, although here I think Soros is laughing at his own side for being the way they are. He could not possibly be that stupid himself. And this is the alternative perspective from Ace of Spades: AP: CNN Pipe “Bomb” and Powder Within It Were Perfectly Harmless.

Will the always-in-error-but-never-in-doubt Not-Binary Ben care to revise and correct his prior remarks about people being “deranged”?

The pipe bomb and white powder that forced an evacuation at CNN headquarters in New York City Wednesday morning were harmless, a law enforcement source told the Associated Press. The purported explosive device was similar in construction to those sent Wednesday to former President Barack Obama, former attorney general Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D., Fla.), and Representative Maxine Waters of California. A package containing white powder was delivered later in the day.

The NYPD said the explosive devices were live during a Wednesday afternoon press conference but subsequent reporting suggests they were not functional.

All of the devices carried a parody ISIS flag featuring comedian Larry the Cable Guys signature slogan, “git ‘er done,” NBC News reported late Wednesday.

And one more bit to break the tie from John Hinderaker at Powerline: ABOUT THOSE “APPARENT EXPLOSIVE DEVICES”:

As everyone now knows, someone sent or delivered packages containing explosive devices of some kind to a number of prominent Democrats, ranging from Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama to Eric Holder and George Soros. Not much is known at this point about the devices, their origin, or the degree of threat they represented. Most importantly, we have no idea who sent them.

I assume the perpetrator will most likely be caught, although perhaps not until after the election. Until then, speculation will run rampant. But speculation, absent facts, is pointless. There is nothing intelligent one can say about this episode beyond condemning pipe bombs.

That hasn’t stopped some from behaving irresponsibly. Most notably, CNN’s President Jeff Zucker blamed President Trump:

“There is a total and complete lack of understanding at the White House about the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media. The President, and especially the White House Press Secretary, should understand their words matter. Thus far, they have shown no comprehension of that,” Zucker’s statement reads.

This is ridiculous. In the first place, we don’t know whether the devices were sent by a crazed right-winger, a Democrat trying to neutralize the GOP’s devastating #JobsNotMobs theme, or a nut of some other variety. The salient point is that President Trump has never done anything to suggest that bombing CNN’s headquarters (or anything else) would be appropriate.

This distinguishes him from President Obama, who said–in a moment of hyperbole, one charitably assumes–that Democrats should bring guns to fights with Republicans, and Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi, who have explicitly advocated mob action against Republicans. (“Collateral damage,” right, Nancy?) CNN apparently hasn’t gotten over the fact that if it lies about the president, the president has a right to respond. No wonder CNN now has fewer viewers than Nickelodeon.

Coincidentally, I suppose, the New York Times is now printing fantasies about the Secret Service collaborating with Russian agents to murder President Trump. Spoiler alert: they don’t decapitate him and carry around his head as if they were “comedians.”

So I look forward to the lectures on civility to which we will subjected for the next 13 days. Once the election is over, the Democrats will be back to severed heads. For now, they are trying to deflect #JobsNotMobs.

Why this would change a single vote in either direction is beyond me, but the Democrats must know their constituency, idiots without judgement about policy and with no comprehension how what happens in the present will affect what will happen in the not so distant future.

SOMEONE IN THE US MUST BE READING LAWOFMARKETS:

The move to replace ‘European-based knowledge’ as exclusionary, inadequate and subjective

Janice Fiamengo on inclusive, decolonised, anti-rational academia:

This is probably now the top hot-button issue at Canadian universities – the move to replace ‘European-based knowledge’ as exclusionary, inadequate and subjective, and to replace it in some cases with “indigenous knowledge,” and even something called “indigenous science”… what some might say is superstition or magical beliefs… The idea that “indigenous knowledge” is not to be questioned, that it has value equal to supposedly ‘European’ science… is an incredibly worrisome and strange idea.

Do watch in full for the anecdotes about the realities of so-called “affirmative action,” and the faculty lounge response to hearing of the 9/11 atrocities.

Enemies of the people

This is What Kerry Phelps Stands For, drawn to our attention by Max in a previous thread. These people are your enemy. And it might be noted that only on climate change does she have actual proposals. The rest are just smiley faces offering her support for any good ideas anyone else might come up with. Basically a policy vacuum. Pathetic that she has won this seat, although I would suspect her views are identical to Malcolm’s. Did people knowingly vote for this, and do these views really constitute the beliefs of the people of Wentworth?

What I stand for

Economically sensible.

Socially progressive.

Climate Change

Climate change is real. The government has NO policy for action and Labor’s policy does not go far enough.

Renewable Energy: Transition to 100% renewable energy, 50% by 2030.

Scientific Evidence: Restore a credible scientific-based Climate Change Authority.

No New Coal-Fired Power Plants: I will oppose the Federal Government spending your money on new coal fired power generation.

Oppose Adani: Stop government subsidies of new and existing fossil fuel developments including the proposed Adani coal mine and provide subsidies for investment in renewable energy sources.

Paris Agreement: Meet or exceed our commitments under the Paris International Climate Agreement.

Political Lobbying: Ban political donations by fossil fuel companies and their lobbyists.

Better Health for All

Health: I am committed to a viable future for Medicare and a more transparent, equitable and user-friendly private health insurance system.

My Health Record: I will advocate better privacy protections for all Australians.

Oral Health: I will champion a dental health scheme and a reassessment of private health rebates for dental work.

Aged Care: As Treasurer, the Budget papers show Scott Morrison pulled $1.2 billion out of aged care. As a Doctor, I know this is a national crisis and I fully support a Royal Commission into the Aged Care sector.

Strong Economy

Superannuation and retirement incomes: I will encourage stable superannuation rules for at least 5 years to generate investment certainty and confidence.

Banks:  I support strong regulators to improve the financial services system whose weaknesses were exposed in the recent Banking Royal Commission.

Business: I will encourage policies that support entrepreneurship with a focus on the ability of businesses to plan ahead and provide secure jobs.

Taxation:  I support the lowering of company tax and compliance costs along all levels of business to attract higher domestic and global investment provided that all companies pay their fair share of tax.

Social Justice

Inclusiveness: I will support Government creating a sense of community harmony through humane policies that respect and encourage diversity and civil rights.

Child Protection: The future of our children must be a priority. I will advocate for a clear national agenda and unified national system of child protection and recovery.

Asylum seekers: I call for an end to mandatory detention and the immediate removal of children and families off Nauru.

Live Sheep Exports:  I believe it is our moral and ethical responsibility to bring an end to live sheep exports.

Aboriginal Reconciliation:  I will continue to be a supporter of the Uluru Statement from the Heart.

Religious Freedoms: The Government must release the Ruddock report into religious freedoms to the public due to ongoing concerns that the report will be used to water-down anti-discrimination laws.

Education:  I will promote equitable, accessible education, fair funding for all schools, affordable early child care and restoring funding to universities and TAFE to invest in the future skills that Australia needs.

Local Concerns

ABC: We must restore funding and transparency to the ABC to ensure our public broadcaster is free from political or commercial interference.

National Integrity Commission:  I support The National Integrity Commission – a federal corruption watchdog as set out by The Australia Institute’s National Integrity Committee.

New Public High School:  Wentworth needs a new public high school and I will advocate strongly for the State Government to get on with building it.

South Head:  I have vowed to add my support to saving South Head as a national park and to block the proposed commercial development.

The Arts:  I support a creative Australia and I believe we need to invest in and support our dynamic arts industries.

Max also noted, quoting H.L. Mencken: “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.” I see it different. It is now the rich who are the greatest supporters of the left since half their wealth now comes from governments directing tax revenues into their pockets. And while once upon a time freedom of the press was a guarantee of honesty and balance in the media, today almost every journalist is a green-socialist of a far leftist kind who will lie and distort to help their side in the fight.

Empty-headed dolts with nothing to contribute to the conversation

First there was this: NPC. Now there’s more of the same, this time from Breitbart: What Is the ‘NPC’ Meme? Liberals Rage at Cartoons Mocking Their Scripted Thoughts. Many other memes at the link, but this one I have seen a few times and it always makes me laugh because the humour is so dark.

You should also go to the link to look at the comments. The left may be empty-headed dolts with nothing of their own to contribute to the conversation, but there are an awful lot of them.

Socialism kills

Socialism is even more devastating to your life than smoking – fantastically bad for your health and welfare, will ruin your income-earning potential, and cost you your freedom. It might even kill you just as it has done for so many others.

You might think socialism is cool and you might think it’s chic, but if you do, you are historically illiterate and ignorant to a fanastic extent. The evidence of its massive dangers is everywhere; there is no counter story. Socialism brings ruin.

And yet, even with all the evidence everywhere available, people do smoke, in the same way that people line up to become socialists and support political leaders who would lead them into slavery, economic ruin and for many into death if those whom they follow ever end up with their hands on the levers of power. With all the warnings in the world, and all the evidence at every turn, all too many, because they think they are too smart to need such warning, will trundle down these doom-ridden paths.

As with cigarettes, socialism is a habit often commenced in youth, an intellectual disease which poisons the mind, which try as one might, can becomes an addictive belief system impossible to shed until dragged down by the inevitable harm that it creates if by fate one happens to find their own community, the one in which they live, has become yet one more socialist entity. Living in a socialist state is the surest cure for this addiction, but by then it is too late.

With socialism, just as with cigarettes, there is no reason for anyone to be unaware of the harm it brings. We have known its folly since even before the first disastrous socialist experiments were tried, which began just over a century ago. We have seen the ruin of one economy after another, from Russia in 1917 to Venezuela today. Yet there are always some who think they can beat the odds, that they know best, that next time will be different.

Do not be a fool. Do not support anyone or any party who offers you socialism as the answer to any actual existing problem. We know already what will happen. A tiny handful will scramble to the top who will then oppress everyone else – including you. Socialism creates poverty, misery and death. Socialism has never succeeded at any time in any place ever. The next time will be the same as all the other times.

If you call yourself a socialist, you are a fool. There are no exceptions.

Guess who: “I think I was a thug while growing up”

WATCH: Old Interview With Heavy-Drinking ‘Thug’ Obama Puts Wild-Man Brett Kavanaugh To Shame. Where you will find this text:

Remember all the hubbub about Brett “Party Man” Kavanaugh? The guy who was a boozer loser in his teens and, therefore in part, has no business being on the Supreme Court in his 50’s? Well, move over bacon — now there’s something meatier.

A video of the Left’s savior, Barack Obama, has resurfaced. And Barry is talkin’ up a storm about his partying days as an adolescent. The hits:

–Trigger Warning–

“I think I was a thug for a big part of my growing up.”

A THUG!

“[I] reacted by engaging in a lot of behavior that’s not untypical of a lot of black males across the country.”

What? That’s racist.

“I didn’t take school that seriously.”

Say it ain’t so!

“I got into fights.”

That sounds a lot like toxic masculinity.

“I drank and consumed substances that weren’t always legal.”

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR.

“Some of my behavior was self-destructive — I might drink a six-pack in an hour before going back to class.”

Certainly unfit to be president, but that we know because he was president and showed just how unfit he was. As in:

The ideological bent of those overseeing collegiate life

From Instapundit and about America, but fits right into Australia as well.

I’VE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR A WHILE NOW: Think Professors Are Liberal? Try School Administrators: The ideological bent of those overseeing collegiate life is having the biggest impact on campus culture.

I soon learned that the Office of Student Affairs, which oversees a wide array of issues including student diversity and residence life, was organizing many overtly progressive events — programs with names like “Stay Healthy, Stay Woke,” “Microaggressions” and “Understanding White Privilege” — without offering any programming that offered a meaningful ideological alternative. These events were conducted outside the classroom, in the students’ social and recreational spaces.

The problem is not limited to my college. While considerable focus has been placed in recent decades on the impact of the ideological bent of college professors, when it comes to collegiate life — living in dorms, participating in extracurricular organizations — the ever growing ranks of administrators have the biggest influence on students and campus life across the country. . . .

Intrigued by this phenomenon, I recently surveyed a nationally representative sample of roughly 900 “student-facing” administrators — those whose work concerns the quality and character of a student’s experience on campus. I found that liberal staff members outnumber their conservative counterparts by the astonishing ratio of 12-to-one. Only 6 percent of campus administrators identified as conservative to some degree, while 71 percent classified themselves as liberal or very liberal. It’s no wonder so much of the nonacademic programming on college campuses is politically one-sided.

The 12-to-one ratio of liberal to conservative college administrators makes them the most left-leaning group on campus. In previous research, I found that academic faculty report a six-to-one ratio of liberal to conservative professors. Incoming first-year students, by contrast, reported less than a two-to-one ratio of liberals to conservatives, according to a 2016 finding by the Higher Education Research Institute. It appears that a fairly liberal student body is being taught by a very liberal professoriate — and socialized by an incredibly liberal group of administrators.

All subsidized — whether at public or private institutions — by taxpayers who are much less liberal, but have no say.

It’s not what what happened but who it happened to that counts

A Rape Survivor Just Won the Nobel Peace Prize. ‘Feminists’ Are Nowhere to Be Found.

As feminists were busy peddling their “War on Women” narrative in the U.S., Yazidi sex slave survivor Nadia Murad was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for fighting a real War on Women in the Middle East.

Nadia was honored for her efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war, together with Dr. Denis Mukwege of the Democratic Republic of Congo, who has been a relentless healer and advocate for women.

Their stories serve as an important reminder that as American women debate what constitutes enough evidence to block a nominee from taking a seat on the Supreme Court, corroboration and evidence are abundant in places such as northern Iraq, where hundreds of women and girls are still enslaved and routinely subjected to rape.

The left doesn’t care about you at all unless your story can be used against first world white men.

Mad as a meat axe

By Sarah Hoyt: The Misandrist Editorial the Washington Post Should Be Ashamed Of. A must read, but here is a bit to get the flavour.

Her article starts with a confession of spousal abuse:

I yelled at my husband last night. Not pick-up-your-socks yell. Not how-could-you-ignore-that-red-light yell. This was real yelling. This was 30 minutes of from-the-gut yelling. Triggered by a small, thoughtless, dismissive, annoyed, patronizing comment. Really small. A micro-wave that triggered a hurricane. I blew. Hard and fast.

The question I often ask myself is whether I could survive a marriage with a women on the left side of politics. Well, if that is what it would be like, the answer is an absolute no, not because I would leave, but because she would. I would not sit quietly and take it in as her husband did.

And here is the original article from the WP: Thanks for not raping us, all you ‘good men.’ But it’s not enough. The author is described as “a retired history professor at Grinnell College”. As noted by Ron Dreher, she is married to “Mr. Brown, America’s Most Miserable Man”.
