A quite extraordinary collection of news clippings on fifty years of catastrophic forecasting: Wrong Again: 50 Years of Failed Eco-pocalyptic Predictions. This is the oldest found at the link, but go to the link to see all the others. 

Unfortunately, I am old enough to remember all of them and I can attest that these really were big news stories at the time.
